The elvator/stab is fully airfoiled, but he rudder is not true airfoiled persay, but rather tapered. Approximately 10mm LE to a 7mm TE... Not even sure that matters as again, the plane was designed semi scale for performance. If Quique felt this plane would fly better with a fully airfoiled then you can bet it would have it...

I doubt a fella could discern a difference in performance with either setup on this plane.

I'm impressed with the plane's solid feel... it doesn't seem fragile, but yet feels overall light.

I look forward to putting this one through it's paces...

Yes, I think that there are a decent number of "unspoken for" planes. However, with the Toledo show that ended today, there was a good deal of traffic at Quique's booth and people checking out the new 73".

In other words... if you think you want one.. I'd call tomorrow and place an order...

Also Quique was showing an early protoype of a small, full-fuseYak 54... Nice looking plane... looks like it ws designed to fly on a 3 cell 2100...

Still 4-5 months out, he really just wanted to guage the market... needless to say it got quiet a few looks too...

It looks alot like the 72" version. Did he just change the WS? or location of the wing..

I really can't say for sure, but I thin the wingarea (span and chord) were increased. DOn' tthink the position was changed much... maybe fore/aft to compensate for the deeper chord.

Most of the other feature/hardware changes were in answer to customer response.

Anyone think that a saito fs-150 would work well on this plane. It seems that it would to me as quique had his set up with a YS 140 sport at the toledo show and said the performance was great. thanks for the help

I new, if it was a Yak, you would beat me to it .
Well I got mine Friday, but didn't get chance to look at it 'till Saturday morning.
WOW [sm=cool.gif] As far as ARF's go, it looks real nice, top notch!.

I will be using one of my OS 1.60fx, and will post as much stuff as I can on here, but I promise one thing, I will not over analise this stuf to death .

The 1.50 should make for a nice combo on this plane Rich. If you have one I certainly wouldn't think thwice about putting it in this Yak...

Let's analyze those comments...

This plane's a pretty much straight forward build... 5 good servos... a single battery (I'll probably use a 4 cell 2500)...

Probably 5925's on ailerons/elevators and a 5945 on the rudder... 225MG on the throttle.

Probably a n O.S. 1.60FX & Bisson Pitts on the nose with an APC 18x6W.

3.5" looks to big of a spinner so 3"-3.25" should do.

The only thing I am considering is whether I would want to e-convert this one. There were SO many new larger, more powerful motors shwon at Toledo... Hacker, HiMaxx, AXI and even some new ones I hadn't heard of...

I've got time for that decision...

Hey Dave, Bruce Freeman here. I just talked to Molly & have 2 yaks coming for Wednesday. Only cost 42$ for shipping both planes. You seem interested in electric power on a 73!QUOT!. I am also. What do you think for a motor. I haven't seen the new stuff that's out. Do you have any suggestions?

I turned mine down this morning, so that should be 1 more for you guys. I really would like to have it but I decided I'm going to purchase the 102" in a few months instead.

Enjoy them! If they fly anything like the 85" you will not want to fly anything else!!!

Interested in this plane and have been following this thread. Did anyone or specifically Maudib see any direct competition to this QQ 73"? I am curious what else showed promise in the 72-73" Yak field at the trade show. Looks like 431.00 shipped to Sacramento CA. I did not see the fuse length of the 73" QQ yak posted. Wondering what the length to span ratio is. Also, Maudib, are you going to build this one up right away or are you in the middle of a project right now other than their web site? Nice Job on the site BTW....looks much better. Paul

Mine costs $136 to ship so I think I'm going to pass. As much as I really want a QQ airplane, it's going to be $155 more than the GP yak since tower will ship the GP yak for free and I get $30 off on the order.

Man, I'm bummed....

How about saving more money for it? I think the GP one is'nt goin to compete against the QQ Yak,not even close... I had the GP Christen Eagle and the covering was crap. Took hours to get the bubbles out. Another friend at the field has the big Cap he had the same problem.. My incidence was way off on the Stab. holes didnt line up for the Cabanes... I would say save for the QQ if I were you. You won't be dissapointed!!!

Sure, not like I really want the GP, but $525 is a bit of money for a glow plane. I guess it just crested my threshold.

QQ offered to help out with the shipping a little which was very generous of him, so I have one coming. I don't mean to quibble over a couple of bucks, but I had my mind pretty set on what I was willing to pay for my next airplane.

Now I just need to get some money together for the engine and servos.

I'm only starting to delve into what choices... but the new Hacker 50 and 60 series outrunners look nice... as do the new HiMax motors.

The Hacker A60-S22 should put out 1600 watts sustained and if this can be kept at 10 lbs that's 150 watts per lb... pretty nice I'd think... with peaks to 50 (over 1850 watts for 15 seconds) this might be a really nice combo...

They call for a 20x10 prop... so taller gear might be in order...

On the other hand the HiMaxx HC6320-250 seems promising too... at 16 oz it's lighter than the Hacker A60-S but I can't get the full details on it... it says 1700 watts and an 80 amp ESC... maybe not as efficient as the hacker...

I looked at electric power, but the batteries where crazy expensive and it looked like it would weigh more in the end. Perhaps I'm missing something but what do you think total power system cost would be? Motor/Batts/ESC.

Motor Maybe $200, ESC around $150 and batteries starting at $400+ (up to $575 maybe)...

I'm not sure it's effective or weight attarctive just yet... looking into it...

Certainly the 1.60 will provide excellent performance... thew 1.20ZX might be a consideration as well, coming in 11 oz lighter than the 1.60 (both sans muffler)

Where there is a will, there is a way... On the EF 68" Yak and H9 Fuintana 90 I created "tounges" that stick out over the engine to strap receiver batteries to, moved pull-pull servos forward closer to CG, tec.

I'm not recommending it... just saying that I've seem guys go to extreme lengths to balance with light engines.

I do know that the 1.60 is gonna be some brute power to weight ratio...
