Default Torque Roll

Hi everbody,

I am currently flying a CAP 580 1/3 scale, although it flies all the 3D stuff. I do have a question regarding when it is in a torque roll I have to constantly hang on to up elevator to keep it in, I have read somewhere about this, but cannot rememeber where and what the remedy was. Can somebody shed some light on this...
Thx

I think the characteristic is due to a relatively high thrust line compared to other types of aerobats.

In my Cap I put the cg back as far as I was comfortable with and added a little up thrust to counter the resulting ballooning tendencies which helped but did not completely alleviate the tendency. I think it is Cap thingy.

High thrustline and low wing placement have a hand in it. You can probably make it a little better by getting your plane to balance better, vertically. If You were to hang it by a string on the prop shaft, or thereabouts, you would probably see that it hangs with the gear pointed down a bit - it's called being bottom-heavy. The worse this situation is the harder it will be to torqueroll and hover. Try putting ALL of your equipment as high up in the fuse as possible.
Think about it, a stable helicopter will balance nearly level at the main rotor shaft. If it's nose-heavy you have to pull back on the stick to hover, and pirouettes are a royal PITA...
