LOL whats funny is I was complely new at this hobby , I did the covnersion and I didn't even balance the plane . It lasted about 20 flight until the wings broke off !! When I look at it now I can tell you it was a HUGE overkill , imagine a 46 on a EP ....haha

I am wanting to do this badly. I have everything I need but the right engine. Do you think a OS 25 will be to much. I have one of these laying around. I was thinking of this plane or the Katana Mini. You can get it with CF reinforcement.

i used an os .25 la. just weigh all your stuff and look for a finished weight of 26 ounces or less. i bet a .15 would be decent on this plane. the .25 makes it a rocket.
CitatioN10: what a coincidence! i got into this hobby by building a GP PT-electric. i tried to fly it alone and of cource crashed it many times. after a few crashes, i decided i had to make it glow. so i went to hobby shop and they set me up with the .25 la i have now. i converted it, but while working on covering the wings (i was new at it) i got a bad warp in one side. so it never really flew well until i fixed that. it sat for a while as i learned on foamy electrics and then i went back extra confident to fly it. i put it into a dive and pulled up very hard. my wings broke off also! it's like we followed the same book to get into this stuff.

Ya know, I started this thread with no intentions of converting mine but now, after reading all of the stuff and how many people actually want to do this and seeing whaturi's fly, I'm reconsidering.
I think one of the first things I would do is to use flat pieces of CF in specific area's of the fuselage, mainly from the wing mounts back towards the tail, it everything I can with CA to make sure the joints are in good shape.
whaturi,
Did the Hangar have the microlite in stock or did Luke order it for you? I know they have the CF in stock and I can always get the engine easily.

Yea, I saw that the other day, DROOL DROOL. I'm thinking with the proper bracing it might be possible to get to 28 ounces on this thing and still be OK with the wing loading.
I did notice while carrying your out to the runway, that there seemed to be a bit of flex right about the middle between the canopy and tail section. That's why I'm thinking about the CF stuff.
Missed you last night at the field. I was there about 4:15 but we have a good 15mph crosswind with higher gusts so I just hung out. Around 6:00 it died off but as soon as I got airborne it came back so I only got one flight in until I figured it was time to just forget about it.
It really did make for some interesting crosswind landings, 45 degrees to the runway in a crab then at about 10 feet crank it straight into a slip and land. I did take the time while I was waiting to make the tailwheel steerable on the Showtime.
I will not be there tonight. I have an errand to do right after work [:'(]

Sounds like you guy's get to fly a lot , Unfortunatly I don't like to fly myself so I always wait for a buddy of mine to go , but then he's got to ask permission from his wife and that ends up to be a 3 hour fight and he never shows up ...LOL maybe its time to move to PA .

I only just joined the club whgere whaturi flies but I do get to fly allot (nice field, roughly 600 feet long by about 200 feet wide, grass) . I had over 1000 flight last year alone and I'm probably close to 100 this season so far and I'm probably one month since I took the first flight. Since last Thursday, I have 27 flights alone at 2 seperate fields on mainly 3 different planes
