Default AW 29% Edge, Downthrust??

For all of you that have built and love this plane, have you had to add any down thrust in the engine mount? Right thrust is specified in the instructions. What is your experience. using a BME 50 on the plane.

Any other advice appreciated. Did you fill the large hole that AW use to cut the wing tube out with foam?? looks like a good place for a finger to go through the thin balsa.

Thanks,

mark

I like the way mine flys with out any down thrust.
maybe 4 deg right thrust, I'm using a bme 44 would like to go with a 50.
dont fill the holes leave it light, I dont ever handle the plane there unless the wing is off.
Have you flown it yet?

No, haven't started building yet. Xmas present!! Have just about everything needed. Need to finish another project first.

My wood came packaged very badly, and was warped and twisted. Repacked it. If it doesn't flatten out this week, I will be calling AW. How was your material when you got the kit?

I see you used a little more right thrust than the 2-2.5 recommended. Did you have to add ore after you flew it? This make cowl alignment difficult.

no all my wood came packaged well, had a little ding in one of the foam pieces, didn't know at first if this would cause problems later (it didn't) called A/W more than willing to help if needed.
BTW I don't have the piece of paper saying where the cowl came from, do you have yours?
I put that thrust in from the get go, it seems to work well, I just aligned the cowl a little to the right also, just enough not to notice. I'm still playing with settings.

2Lo,

I don't have anything saying where the cowl came from, but mine is not the best I have ever used. It has a bad seam in it that will need some filling and sanding. Don't know why they just didn't make it 2 pieces. I have bought one piece cowls from Stan that are flawless.

Default Downthrust? AeroWoarks 29% Edge

This planes engine down thrust is O. Infact we talked to Rocco at AeroWorks He recomends 1/4% up thrust to get rid of wing rock in a harrier.

i did not fill the hole in on the wing area.
i have about 3 degress of right thrust
i have about .5 of up thrust on the motor
my cowl did not come with any right thrust built into so what i did was fill the cowl hole (around that area) with exopy and micro ballons so that i could sand an angle to the cowl so that the spinner would not have a large cap angling.

She is one sweet machine i have over 250+ flights on mine. i logged 2 of her today.....
