Let me know what servos you are using in the wings of the Sukhoi? I can not find anything to fit except a digatal jr 811 but I am not rigs for digital yet and was trying to use regular servos.
Standard size stick too far out of the servo hole.
Low profile are too wide.
Looks like I might have to go with micro metal gears and add to the wood mounting blocks.

I'll see if I can get some pics of my Sukhoi up later today.
I have some now but they are HUGE. I'll have to resize them.
I did put some info on the Sukhoi (particularly the wing mounts) in this thread. http://rcuniverse.com/showthread.php...95&forumid=230
I'll go resize some pics.

I heard there was a newer version of these planes. He was selling out all the first generations. Do you guys know the difference between the first and second generation?

I would imagine that they would be going to plug in wings on the ones that are currently single designs. If you pull the info on them, you will see that the wingle wing versions are listed as "currently a single wing design". I may be wrong, but I would think that would be one of the major changes.
I have heard some rumors about double beveled edges for more control surface throws. Who knows?
I'm just glad to see them making their models better and offering the older models at reduced prices to clear them out. I hope they continue to do this in the future. Perhaps they will offer better hardware and maybe some different color combos as well? That would be sweet although I must say, for ARFs the covering job was pretty nice (complex) too.
I'm interested in the differences as well.

I just picked up a Staudacher from another RCU member. Don't know how old it is, but the control surfaces are pre-slotted for the CA hinges and the elevator is double beveled. This was different than the review Erick Royer did on the Staudacher for RCU...

I noticed (but forgot to mention) when I built my Creek Extra, that the surfaces were preslotted for CA hinges. You couldn't tell unless you peeled/ cut back the covering.

my edges on my katana and my sukhoi and are both double beveled. I flew my Katana all weekend and I am still enjoying it. I just flew it with a new radio so it was like flying it for the first time. But it was ok.
Sukhoi owners, what engines are you guys using, I got the 160.
How much lead are you having to add to the front

It's still not near being ready. I have to go out to get the rods and make them. I also still have to mount the aileron servos, fuel tank, plumbing, throttle servo, balance, run the engine, etc.
I'm not sure this will be enough engine for this model but we will see (YS 1.20).

It looks good. You got all the time consuming stuff done. That is except for the fuel tank. Ill show the contraption that I had to make to get an 18 oz tank to work right. I am working on my camera right now and Ill get some pics on tonight or tomorow.
i think the 120 will probobly be ok, I know a guy in the club who has a ys 120 on a goldberg sukhoi, and it ways way more than these do and it has sufficient power. It is not just a rocket or nothing but it flies good.

Dsagot,
How much does the Katana weigh with the 3W24 and have you tried to hover and pull out?
I am ready to buy the gas engine for mine but was looking at the RSC 140 due to weight. I hear that going with the other gas engines makes the planes lose their low speed floating performance.

COOL HANK,,,
I like that, I did something different with my cowl too. I painted the front of mine with black and white checkerboards like on an extra. I also changed up the decals a little bit. I hope I can get some pictures on soon but I am trying to figure out what is up with my digital camera. I love my Katana though. It is got to be the best at 3d and all out smoothness that I have ever seen in a 1/4 scale sport airplane.
