I purchased some stuff just after they opened their online store -- a Katana EP3D RTF and some Volk props.
Unfortunately, due to a stuff-up on their website, the Katana was out of stock so it took four weeks before it was delivered (not typical I'm told). To their credit, they threw in an additional Lipo (which unfortunately I can't use because it's too heavy and has different connectors -- damn!).
However, the model was damaged in transit (not immediately apparent and repairable). More worrying was the fact that it was sent on an illegal frequency and the transmitter was also damaged. The result was a pretty second-hand looking setup that I could not legally use even after waiting a month for delivery.
However, I've been promised a new transmitter and legal crystals -- although I have to return the old one seemingly at my expense.
Based on this (and previous experiences with stuff shipped out from China) I'd say that there's quite a bit of risk involved in the process.
It seems that the Chinese football team works at the freight handling division of EMS Couriers -- I have yet to receive a single item sent from China via EMS that hasn't been damaged in some way and most packages turn up with big gashes in the boxes and looking as if they've been sat on by an elephant.
If Peak Model can learn to pack their stuff better (or find a kinder-gentler carrier) then their business-model might work.
I'm still a little miffed that it will probably be SIX WEEKS from the time I ordered my goods to the time I finally get to use them, and that I'm faced with extra freight to fix up a problem that wasn't caused by me. I wanted this model to fly in the late winter evenings -- before we got three months of strong winds. Too late now -- the winds have just started and won't abate until November so my EP Katana has missed its window of opportunity.
If I'd know this was going to be the outcome I would have put this money to better use finishing my 30% Extra.
Peak Model seem to be honest guys, working hard to set up a new business -- but the old addage "you only get what you pay for" seems to be ringing a little louder in my ears today ;-)
I'll keep you informed as to the ultimate outcome.
I do hear that others have had far more luck with their orders.

I have had three shipments from them with no damage or other problems
A friends spe 26cc engine did nor work properly and he was told to send it back and that he will get a new one, we`ll have to wait and see how it turns out but the guy at peak seems thrustworty.

I received my combo YAK 54/SPE 26cc in Brazil with little damage. I fixed it in 1 hour. The engine is working well and the flight is awesome!
ps. They can learn to pack their stuff better!

I had trouble with some stuff being shipped from the USA until the manufacturer changed to a far stronger cardboard for the outer box. It cost them about $2 for the more expensive material but (they told me) it's actually saved them thousands in damage that used to occur during shipping.
While a customer can always refuse to accept a carton that's obviously damaged in some way, it means they have to wait until the product is returned and a new (replacement) is shipped out -- with no guarantees that also won't end up getting broken along the way.

I ordered my edge540 combo last friday sept 8th and received the first box on tuesday sept 12 and the second one the next day. all i could find was a chip on the cowling and two dents in the fuse. overall i'm very happy with mine. i reinforced the firewall, added 2.75 wheels, used a b&b tank (not the one that came with the combo), used about half of the hardware that came with it. the engine test was good, going to work on getting the idle lower today. i ground tested it yesterday, it handle very good, even in 15 mph gusts. i hope to test hop it today. i will take it to the post office to find out what the weight its. BTW my dad got one too and his test flight went good.

Thanks Superfli, looks good. How about a little more detail in your review of the engine, and the ARF. I wanted to try a small gasser in something before I step up to a 50cc in my GPlanes Extra 300. Were you happy with what you received in this package? If so why. These new companies kinda scare me. Thanks again.

I have not made a order for any yaks yet. However if you would like to get the yak let me know over the weekend and I should be able to get a few in with my order(1 or 2). Our Price will be $525 ship in the US. I know we are a little more but then again it cost a little more to get the kits in the US. Bmca engines will come with a two year warranty.

My shop will also be carrying these planes. I just received my own personal one. First impression. Very nice quality. HUGE rudder. I received my kit Saturday. I placed the order Monday night. Very fast.!!! Instruction are in color but very little detail. I mentioned this to Peak and they said they were already looking into it. Also he sent me the instruction for the bcma engine since they are the same. No damage at all from shipping. Haven't started building but it appears to have one elevator servo(from quick glance) I would be happier with 2. Wheels are too small. Hardware didn't look awful but haven't closely inspected it. Probably metric so I will change some. Covering looked good didn't see many wrinkles if any. Landing gear seemed very sturdy. Personally I never use ca hinges and will change them. Even included a prop. Overall I am very happy. It will be a few weeks until I do get it up in the air and can give a follow up.

i flew mine twice today, it flies great. it will do what ever you ask it to do. the plane is built good and lite, you can set it up for two elevator servos BUT the covering they used in my opinion is the worst i have seen. it is peeling and starting to wrinkle. dont get me wrong its a nice cover job just very cheap. if i get another one i will strip it and cover it in monokote. the cowling and pants are fiberglass. it took me about 20 hours to have it ready. my engine had a bad carb i put another on for another guy til in get a new one from peak model. it ran much better. i used a b&b specialties tank. i have used them beofore and i like them thats y i used it.. one thing i did change is the firewall, they used 2 pieces of ply for the firewall. it was very easy to change

Not sounding good, poor covering, bad carb, change firewall. Sounds like its more then a bolt together and fly.
Superfli, did you have enough power to move the plane around with the 26cc or pull out of a hover???

Peak Model seem to be honest guys, working hard to set up a new business -- but the old addage "you only get what you pay for" seems to be ringing a little louder in my ears today ;-)
I'll keep you informed as to the ultimate outcome.

Now I have to wait until October 7 before I can order anything else because they're on holiday :-(
