Thank you. I knew the Bling had a large wing. This new Reactor is even a little be bigger than that at 1556. It should be a fun plane. My buddy flys the heck out of his Bling and loves it. It is a very fun plane to fly.
Thanks
Barry

Walt and Sage,
I think the Reactor is a very interesting plane. It's one of the "Performance Series" made by Great Planes. I had their CAP of that series and was very impressed with it, even though the wing area was smaller, it was very light, 13.5lbs. The Reactor is made for the DA 50 and has a HUGE wing area. The manual says it will weigh 16lbs with the DA50R.
I have taken the plunge and ordered one "just for the fun of it". You can read about the Reactor at Tower Hobbies and/or Great Planes Website.

I'm making room for the Reactor...I gave away my WildHare Edge with DA50, complete to my friend at the club who owns the Bling. Last time I saw him...he was smiling. Two down and two to go.

Thanks
Barry

Hi Barry,

GREAT LOOKING PLANE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The ONLY concern that I have is the length at 85 inches as we feel the Bling
might fly better with 6 inches out of it...The Bling is 78.5
BUT: the Reactor has a quite WIDER wing at 84.5
The Bling is 71

The Reactor may be a WONDERFUL plane...
I WILL BE FOLOWING IT ON THE NET AS I AM SURE THERE WILL BE MUCH INTEREST!!!
You need to start a forum on it when you start on it !!!!!

THANKS for the heads up on the plane...
Walt...

Just scored a new in box Bling 3D for $200 AUD.
Cant wait.

I watched the guy I am buying this one from absolutely hammer his around the sky the other weekend. He had been having engine problems and was sick of take off shortly followed by landing. So when he got the DA50 going he opened it up and flew the plane for a whole tank at 3/4 to full throttle the whole time. KE passes 4 feet above the ground was spectacular.

No problems with the wing. Fantastic to watch.

I know thats not 3D flying, but this plane handled WOT passes into loops and rolls with no problems at all.

I will check the wing root etc on mine to make sure everything is glued. He said the one he flies hasnt been touched except for a couple of spots in the radio tray that needed a dot of glue.

Anyone flown one of these with the DL50 ? Thats what I will run in it.

My Bling flies with it's tail down like it's tail heavy all the time. and when taking power off for landing it really ballons up and I have to hold the nose down. My CG is at 7 7/8 and the CG range is 7 7/8 -8 5/8" but flies good inverted. I checked the wings and horiz stabs and everything is just as it should be. the firewall is totally neutral. no thrust at all (no right or down) and foom reading this entire thread most are using a CG of 8 1/4 . should I try some up or down thrust to see if it helps?

you know mine flies the same way.flies hands off when inverted but always needs a little push down to get it to land.but this is not the first time i heard of this for the plane, probably due to the long tail?

We have two of them and they both did the same thing..
Dl50s We moved the motor forward 1/4 inch and the one A123 up front..
MUCH better...

Still does inverted flat spins like a heli... but easier to land....

Yes! As a matter of fact I just maidened mine a couple months ago after having put in on the back shelf for a few years. I'm sorry I didn't finish it sooner.
This plane flies awesome as an electric conversion. I had to build a battery box on the firewall in order to get the CG forward enough.

I did replace the gear on mine shortly after I took those pictures. I could not find the Chip Hyde double vision gear anywhere - seems to be no longer available.
I installed a one-piece Graph Tech Main Gear for the Extreme Flight 74" Yak (#244). Fits the Bling perfectly - the width on the fuselage is identical. It sits about 2" higher and has a lot more "spring" to it than the stock metal gear. It also has a fair bit of sweep which I think looks great with the sweep facing rearward.

I really wish they'd bring this plane back. At least almost all the parts are still available...

I added a 1/2 inch block of wood under the standard gear with longer bolts, gives a bit more prop clearance. Running DL50 on 23x8. Still providing the fun! The Bling is still listed on the importers web site here.

It's still on Seagull's main website too. It's one of only 4 models listed under "gas power - aerobatic".
It seems they might be still selling them in some countries such as Japan?
Perhaps it's just the USA distributor (Horizon Hobby), that has killed it.

That graf-tech gear looks great! saved a little weight too. Anyone weighed their planes? I weighed mine a few years ago and i think it was just over 14 lbs. I will have to recheck that to be sure.

I just purchased a Bling 3d $200 local hobby shop. Looking for info/advice on the build of the plane as I am unsure of myself as a builder.
I see this thread is rather old and kind of long.
I have a BME 44 gas engine I will put on it and some hitec hs 645mg high torque servos. Left over from the crash of my Aeroworks stearman. Still heart broken about that one.
Any ways if you have any recommendations lets hear them.
Thanks, Charlie
