Welcome !
First of all you should know that 3D flying is highly addictive ! You will also soon become the crazy and dangerous flyer at your club. The Warbird and parkflyer crowd will point you out at the club meetings and complain of your flying style. You will also going to try to hover every plane you fly (even the ones that are not supposed to hover)!
OK, now to your question : Get the video from Jason Shulman ! It will explain and show you how to get into the 3D flying. Very nicely done !

Well said texas 3d
I couldn't have said it better and its true anywhere you go.
Just don't listen to jealous grumpy sods when they complain about your flying style .(no offence meant of course).
The first manuver i tried was a blender(search for it on rcu).Once i mastered those i moved the center of gravity back loads and then managed to do a blender , flatten the inverted spin out and then climb back up the way i had come!
The next manuvers I tried were prophanging and torque rolls. These are at first indescribably difficult but you need to practice practice and then do some more practice. After this i tried walls and parachutes and then i went back to the smooth aerobatics which I am doing at the moment(rolling figure eights and vertical eights and loops and rolling square loops and snaprolling circles)
Good luck

Hello Alex, glad to see you are joining the wild and crazy 3D crowd !! It is very challenging and a TON of FUN !!! Always start high enough to bail out and be safe too. We often do 3D on the end of the field out of the main flight path where most of helo's fly. This way we are not distracting and interfearing with and causing problems with all the other flyers who are having FUN too.Another manuver I would start doing is hovering and especially backwards, as I think this took me the longest to get used to. You have to get to the point where you can adjust automaticly without thinking about it. Do not rush into it either , just take your time or you will get burnt out and real frustrated easily. If you have nice sim like G2, practice a lot on there - it will save you a lot of time and money !! Most of all - keep having FUN and keep it safe and respect all the other modelers who may NOT appreciate what you are doing ! Rod & Chris in PA.

Thanks both of your for your very good replies... Last week I try my first inverted flats spins. I go very high in the sky, cut throttle and do some snap rolls and the the flat spin.. It was good for the first time.. but it colud be better... i am also trying to fly inverted slow and low in the runmay... each time i get lower
... I think the next time i will try a harrier or something like that...
for the hoovering right now i dont think i will try because of the engine I have in my plane (MW Extra 300 XS with a G45). in near future i will change the engine for something better.... ZDZ, DA, BME........ Thanks for your replies....

alex,
If youre flying an underpowered plane, stick with kinetic maneuvers (snaps, spins, blenders, etc). The last thing you want to do is try and hang it off the prop low n slow, and not have the power to spare. If you can get your hands on a good funfly plane (magic, morris planes, etc) that has a good 36 or 46 two stroke, or a 63-72 4 stroke, have at it. It's alot cheaper if you dork one of those than a big gasser. Granted, the larger they are, the easier they fly, but you'll burn less fuel, and if youre low enough, you wont tear up a plane. You can also get away with standard servos as well. In the last 2 weekends flying, I have managed to plant my magic into the ground no less than 7 times trying to do tailtouches, and only broke one prop, and had to move my landing gear to a different spot after ripping it out. LOLOLOL. Talk about cheap entertainment.
Another alternative would be to build a PBF, Disc, Tennis Ball, etc. They are virtually indestructable, and cost a bout 10 bucks in material. Just make sure you buy plenty of props, because you'll be chewing them up. Do a search on PBF's. The round ones (disc/tennis ball) fly much better than the boxes. They will definately make you use the left hand (throttle/rudder).

Alex,
You definatly want a light plane with lots of power. I started doing 3D with a Menace. I have flow that for about for years and then I tried to hit my dads plane with it at our funfly and totaly destoyed it. I still fly 3D with smaller fun fly planes and they are a lot of fun and good to start out on. Now I have moved on to the AW 36% Edge 540. And I looooove it. acually we have two of them. Flying 3D ( yes ) you need power, if you dont have power you dont have 3D.

yeap i will consider some of those planes, but i think my MW can do 3d except the torque roll. the engine has power but not for torque rolling at half throttle or something like that..As i said in the future i will change the engine for a more powerful one.... i will continue trying other maneuvers until my engine says "NO MORE, ALEX, CHANGE THE ENGINE" lollll
