RE: ULTRA RC KATANA XTREME - new release
Are pilots actually flying this plane anymore? Or has the gear folded on all and wrecked everyones day!? I've had one for about two years now (still NIB) and havn't found the time to complete the model. Maybe THIS spring! Anyway, this thread's been dead for quite some time now so I thought I would see who's still checkin' in or flying this plane. Wish I had some more to add but that will be a few months from now. Happy Flying.

RE: ULTRA RC KATANA XTREME - new release
I'm in the exact same boat. I've got one new in box as well. I will eventually build it and think it will be awesome. I plan to change out the gear and maybe the control horns. But everything else will be pretty much stock. I've had good luck with the OS 1.60 pumped on an SU31 I am currently flying. So, I will go with that. Have you read through the instruction/CD? Must have been written in China or something, but the pics are pretty useful. I think once a person devotes themselves to getting it done, it shouldn't take too long. I should be flying or building today, but I swept out the garage...

Got a set of wings and stab halves if you need 'em. Lost mine after a rough landing after I repaired the original gear with a carbon fiber QQ Yak gear. The plane literally broke in half at the gear. Didn't even ding the prop just snapped the metal gear on the throttle servo. That was the only collateral damage other than my pride.

I think I paid 200 bucks for mine. It's been sitting so long I'll have to re-stretch the skin before the build! I picked up some 50mm cf to slide inside the current gear. Hope that will do it.

This video is a better show of the Katana's performance.

Is anyone using the supplied servo arms? I seem to be missing the inner portion of the assembly that attaches to the servo itself.

That video really reveals the capabilities of the Katana X and the pilot. Doing a pinwheel on take off is spectacular and daring. It certainly has ample power with that piped Titan ZG 20 (A.K.A. Zenoah G20EI) 20cc gas engine. Generally, Zenoahs don't come to mind when talking abour 3D flying. Obviously a lightened Zenoah and the light weight 75-inch Katana are a good mix.
