Hi,
i ordered a Twist 3D and it will be deliverred tomorrow. My Saito FA-72 engine is impatiently waiting to thrust the twist. I've read some twist thread's in rcuniverse and thought that it would be the best if I start to mount the saito engine first before I install the rudder servos in the tail. Maybe I have a chance to see that the CG will become right? Some guys fit a saito FA-82 in this plane and they had to done alot of modifications on front of the fuselage. I don't want to dremel to mutch and plan to set the saito a bit away from the firewall that I don't run in trouble with the thrust linkage. Hope this will not affect the CG to mutch.
What does it mean when they say "When you in 3D mode" in the Aerobatics instructions. Did they mean a Dual Rate setup of the transiever with different elevator rates ? I train basic 3D flight with a Robbe FX-18 and the Aerofly Professional Deluxe simulator and wonder me if I cannot do Blenders, Harriers with a Hype 3D modell. The simulator plane will not do the flat spin if i start the blender ? What's wrong with my setup?
sorry for dozens of questions.
Regards
Frank

Shred Man,
I own a Twist 3D as well. I changed the engine from an O.S 46FX to a O.S 61FX. I followed the instructions from the beginning, and had no issues building the plane whatsoever. I do not see a reason why you should take extra/different prrecautions building the Twist, for as far as mounting the Saito goes.
The Twist is a very capable plane. Not specifically build for 3D, but depending on your qualities/skills, it will let you do some wild things with it
Don't underestimate this "wild yellow bird".
Do you know there is a Twist 3D forum??Check it out...there are many, many usefull postings there as well..and the group active there, is always ready to help you out with questions regarding the Twist, including yours truly

PM me if you have any more/specific questions whenever you want.
Enjoy this wonderful plane...you are going to have some serious fun!!

shred man,
I also own one of these "wild yellow birds"! All I can say is you'll love it. I put a magnum 70 4 stroke in it with a 14/4W prop on it. What a combination it turned out to be. I would not mount the motor first. I would build it following the instructions then mount the motor last. You will find with the carb linkage on the four stroke you'll end up mounting it as far forward as the mount will allow and the balance comes out right on the money. Although I am still at the beginning stages of flyng, this has become my favorite plane. I have seen it do 3D very well (not by me). With this motor prop combination it will do vertical climb outs until you can no longer see it, yet you can fly it like a trainer and float it in or 3 point touch down landings.
Have a ball with it! I know you will.

I've got a Saito 82 on my Twist and the only modification I had to do was carve a small place on the left side for the high speed needle. Other than that, it dropped right in.

Hi,
skorman's comment about the saito FA-82 on the Twist sounds very good. Some small modification and the saito will fit in. Seems to me that I made the right decision to order the Hangar 9 Twist. I'm exited to get the plane complete and ready to take off and I'm shure, I will love it too. Will let you know if I should run in trouble during the buildup, but hopefully not. Nice forum with alot of helpful members !!! Thanks
