Which prop is better for 3d? Are they almost the same?

APC's, in their larger sizes, weigh as much as a brick. The smaller ones are good.

You mean that the apc in the larger size is better?

They pull very well but because of their weight, take a bit longer to spool up. For 3D with engines under about 80cc, wood is a good way to go for throttle response. I run a wood prop on my Moki 1.8 and throttle transition is instant.

About how long will the larger apc prop take to spool on a moki 1.8. It is for a DP Extra. I want to do 3D and hope I can get away with the apc. Going to use a 20x8.

20x8 on a 1.8 or 2.1? I think it would be too big on the 1.8. I am running a Zinger 18x6-10 on mine and it will pull out of a hover, though I haven't tried it in temperatures above 70 degrees yet. Do you already have the APC? If so, then use it and see how it works for you. If not, get the Bambula, Moki, Zinger, etc.

APC props push more but they are a bit to heavy.

APC=Turd

Bambula=

APC is bad because: They are heavy, they flex, they shake, and they dont pull THAT good.

Bambula is good because: They are stiff, they spool fast, they are quite smooth, and they pull GREAT!!

GO WITH BAMBULA!!!

3Dbatixkid, what do you think about a 20x8 on a 1.8 moki? Will it hover the DP Extra?

APC has a thinner and more narrow airfoil. They allow a higher rpm because they are moving less air. For 3D, you want to bite as much air as possible. APC are good for pattern and speed. Use most other high quality wood for 3D, or Mejzlik if the budget allows. APC does offer a line of wide 3D props but they take a second or so to spool up.

An 18x6-10 Zinger will hover it.

You should use the APC W series IMO.

DONT THINK SO!! they are totally not efficient. I have a friend that has run the Zinger Pros on an H9 edge(with Moki 1.8), and he then went to Bambula, and the vertical was soooooooooo much better is blew us all away.

As for a 20x8 on the 1.8, i think that is too big. Id go with an 18x8 or an 18x6.

Yep, it did it. I know it isn't the best, but I was able to hover mine and climb out slowly but with authority. Keep in mind the temps were around mid sixties, so when it climbs into the 90's then it probably won't do it.

Wood propellers seem to come up to speed faster than the APC propellers. While I don't fly 3D, I would think that this is a big benefit when you are flying throttle critical maneuvers. I would say that the APC propeller should give you more consistent RPM due to the mass of the propeller.
