Home for a YS140

I have a brand new YS140 sitting on my bench looking for a suitable airframe. Bought it last year for a project, changed my mind and went Saito 180.
I already have an Extreme Flight Yak54 74" on the bench part built with a YS160
and a Capiche 140 on it's way later in the year for which I have another YS160 ready and waiting.
So I want something in which the YS140 will perform very well, not just ok, good vertical power and ideal for 3D. Thought about an Adrenaline 2m but that's to much like the Capiche so no point. Also the Adrenaline 120 as that is a better size for the smaller field I fly at but I think the YS110 is a better match for it. H9 Showtime, not sure if the YS140 is just to much motor for this?
So something around the 68" wingspan so weight is good for the 140 to be silly with
Freestyle/3D type model.
Any first hand experience of a model in which this engine went very well?
Cheers,
Andy

Not sure how well a YS140 will pull a plane that size around? I had looked at both this and the Ultra Kat but thought the 140 would be ok in them but a 160 would be great. Looking for a model that the 140 will be great in and not to heavy up front.
Seen one of these flown on a MVVS 45 gas and it went very well.
Cheers,
Andy

Couple come to mind...1. Great Planes CAP 232 27%. Would come in at about 12lbs with the 140. I think that would work good.
2. Funtana would be better than the Showtime for pure 3D, but either would be a great match for your "overpowered" desires.
3. Velox RII. www.maxairrc.com This is a great flying plane. Flys pretty similar to the old EF Yak 68" (only better). I fly mine with the mighty 110, but a 140 would work well.
4. QQ is coming out with a samller Yak for this size engine but is still months away.
5. I'm not sure what it would be like...but a Giant UCD would be interesting with that engine. I flew mine with an OS160 but had engine problems with it and only got 5 flights on it.
Anyways...just something to thing about.
Thanks
Barry

Hi Barry,
Thanks for the suggestions there.
Don't really like the H9 Funtana's, have a 40S and it's not nice to fly. The 90 is similar.
Cap, not bad, have to look into that one some more.
QQ Yak, bit Yak'ed out now
Velox looks interesting. Don't know much about this model really and I doubt if it's available in the UK right now? It's another one that works well with a 110 and the 140 might spoil it with weight distribution being 150g heavier then the 110.
Begining to think I'll be better off replacing the 140 with a 110 and then there are loads of good model to chose from[>:]

Hi Tom,
Hmmm, good suggestions there m8. Kind'a what I would like to do, pick up a nice second hand model of that class. I wouldn't be that bothered really as I will have the Yak ready soon and the Capiche 140 later in the year. That gives me a good hanger to play with and not get caught up in that trap of to many models again, your advice I believe
But.... I have this nice shinny YS140 sitting there next to my 2 160's with no airframe and my other site is better for sub 2m models. Don't really want to out it as I will lose so much money.
what to do, what to do?????

btw-the owner thought the 140 was a little too much wing loading for the Showtime. He thought the 110 might be better.
I flew a Funtana 90/ys 140 and a Funtana 90/ys 110 combo and I actually prefer the 140 on this plane. I am putting a ys 140 in my 90 sized plane to fly this year(it had a 110 in it). My verticals were a little weak (2 clicks from full throttle) and it could stand for a wee bit more weight (believe it or not it flys better with more weight). I plan to 3d it some this year and wanted more power...

I think I am going to put it to one side so I have it for the future. With baby on the way I doubt if I will have much spare cash
Oh, I'm looking forward to that fuel bill

Checked out the Showtime vid, cheers for that.Looked good but as you say probably putting the wing loading up for that size model.
What was the 90 sized airframe?

Its an Excelleron 90. Similar in size and shape to the Showtime. It had been around for about 10yrs (called Explorer) built primarily as a pattern ship with retracts, until its 3d brother (Excelleron) came out.
Its a beautiful flying ship, flys better than the Showtime (IMO). Too bad they discontinued it (a 120 sized pattern ship is coming out in its place). I will miss it when its gone. Some guys have flown it with a Supertigre 2300 and loved it.
After that, not sure what I will do with the ys140. I am looking real hard at the rock n roll (2m artistic aerobatic ship from Ultra RC), but time will tell if its enough power...

That Rock n Roll looks like a nice model, shame about the rubbish name
The Ultra RC stuff seems to be very light airframes so should go well with the 140, in fact they said they tested it with the 140 and it had unlimited vertical
