Hi Guys,
I just recently aquired an Extra and am wondering about the wing bolts. They appear to be 10-32 but the nylon bolts can't be tightened without appearing to be stripped. A metal bolt works fine. Considering this is one place where a single point failure can cause the loss of the aircraft, I'm considering just using a rock solid metal bolt. Is there any good reason not to use metal and have others had the same problem with a nylon bolt threading into a T nut ?

The bolts are 5 mm. I have been looking for a nylon allen head so I can use ball driver. Haven't been able to find nylon allen head. Anyone no where you can get them?

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the replies ! Since my post I finally figured out that they're 5 mm as you guys said. I wasn't too keen on the very fine thread and the difficulty in finding metric nylon bolts so I knocked the T-nut out and replaced all the hardware with 1/4-20. I also added a 1/4" ply plate in the fuselage to better hold the bolt in place when the wing is not on.
