I would recommend getting a sim first to be honest. You say you can fly the little helicopter thats good and all. But to learn to fly a plane much less a plane made for 3D in a very small area will be aggravating.
Your going to need a little more than just a good plane and the urge to fly 3D. In the videos they look so nice nose pointed up hovering around. But thats not how you learn to fly a plane. You need lots and lots of room. I would really hate for you to get discouraged by crashing over and over because your trying to hover and stay tight like in the videos. You really need to consider this a serious hobby and go about it the correct way. In the end you will be rewarded by knowing how a plane performs and knowing its limits. By that you can push it and move into 3D.
Once you get the hang of it will will be addicted. This is a very fun hobby! Good luck!

hey jamiekerr, if you want to start flying with a 3d plane and learn 3d i would recomend you to buy a Great Planes Rimfire 22M-1000 Brushless Motor or equivalent, a Great Planes Silver Series 12A Brushless ESC 5V/1A BEC or equivalent, a nice set of lipo's, a good charger, a spektrum DX6 park fly, and buy any foamy available (Great Planes RC Universe Biplane FlatOuts 3D ARF 30.7" would be great) and when it's completely trashed just buy another one. ohh and buy a lot of foam safe CA
. and just get thriugh whith it. This engine, ESC, combo will power any foamy you like. from a flatout extra to a eflight ultimate. remember: foamies are descardable, what is not is the equipment. ance you get the gear you are all set!!!
