go with the DA 100
it pulls that h9 cap with no problem
my dad made a mount out of aluminum
he is a mechanist and made it to mount to the gt 80 holes drilled in the fire wall

ZDZ 80 single.
The CG issue has been resolved by Horizon. They now say 11/16 behind the wing tube.
I'd think you'd be close to that with the 80 single.
Sure a DA-100 has more power but is the extra weight on the airframe worth it?
These planes fly good because of thier light wing loading. Not excess power.
Keep the plane as light as possible.
My H9 Cap weighs 23.5 and the ZDZ 80 single is WAY more than it needs for any 3D maneuver.
Excluding hovering maneuvers how much power is needed for 3D? Not as much as most people think.
Just my .02

Screw the twin, you need a four banger with a huge turbo
Look everyone is going to give you there opinion!! do what you feel is right, I live in colorado above 5,000 feet. I'm flying a 5.5 lb kankge with a saito .91, overkill? Ya! but its fun as hell. from what I've heard about the Sukhoi your going to add alot of weight to the nose, for me a DA-100 would be better than a big single.
I guess being single and not having to drop the other $500 bucks on my wife is a advantage, I really like ZDZ engins but DA is "WORLD CLASS EQUIPMENT".

JohnVH, you are correct. Its from the center of the tube. I was wrong.
People freaked when this plane came out because they were having to add so much weight to the nose to get it in the range.
I have a friend who got his early in the first run. Put a ZDZ 80 twin in it and was way behind the tube for CG. What did he do? He went out and flew it. Flew fine for him there. Matter of fact he felt it needed to go further back.
A few months later Horizon revised the CG location to just about where he was.
You can fly these planes at a much wider CG range than people think.

One guy on here MOVED his wing BACK to accomodate the old CG range......
Moved the wing tube and everything.........
Probably didnt need to.
Go fly them and see how they feel.

Yep, the plane comes in way tail heavy. I have my rudder servos in the fuse and have a 3W106 in the nose and I still had to add 1 pound in the nose. Without the pound it took off straight up like a rocket and I had to give it 22 down trim clicks to fly it level. With the pound, my plane came out 26.7lbs and it still flies awesome 3D. Here is a pic with the weight.

I would go with the ZDZ80 single. I currently have the twin in my second one as well as I did in my first model as well. I moved my rudder servos to mid ship and I am about 2" behind the tube. This is where the planes seemed to really want to be for my flying. Great IMAC flying and awsome 3D with out changing the CG one bit.

I have a H-9 Cap with a DA-100,plenty plenty power.Hovers at less than 1/4 throttle.I also have an AW Edge 540T with a DA-100 and it is also plenty power. The Cap weighs right at 26lbs and the Edge right under 27lbs.Both are awesome 3D planes,I don't fly IMAC so I can't comment on that.I am assembling an AW Extra 330L now and after reading how satisifed Wayne is with his ZDZ(I think ZDZ pays him advertising fees,LOL) we decided to go with the ZDZ 80 single,I am hoping to come in under 23lbs.This is my first big single and ZDZ experience,so I hope it's a good one.I'll get to see first hand the difference between DA and ZDZ.Mecam,I know you all are no rookies to this stuff, but have you tried everything to get a reasonable cg before adding that weight,No way would I ever add a whole pound of dead weight to a plane, don't take it personal Mecam,JMO.

If I find something that IMO is a great product I will say it.
If on the other had something sucks, I will say that too.

Mine has plenty of power with a 3W 100 B2 SS.
Came in weighing just under 26 pounds with all Nicad batteries.
Still need to tinker with the balance a little though.

Has anybody considered the Saito 450 3-cylinder? Judging from the power and weight, it should balance it right, while providing power of DZD 80?? Just thought the 3-cylinder would look cool in a radial cowl. Now if I have the money for the engine AND fuel... 36oz tank, anybody?
