I have a midwest citabria with a ASP .90 2 stroke on the nose.
I have found that it will hover at what feels like 1/4-1/3 throttle. i have hovered it about 30 seconds threw 1 minute before falling out. so far it is fairly easy to hover.
But as some one told me, A HOVERING BUSHPLANE!!!!

how can you get a citabria to hover? that is just insane! that is almost as bad as getting a 1/4 dr. 1 to hover (this has been done by the way, no pic of it though.) does it tr at all? how much does this unlikley but yet hoverable machine weigh? well like i said that is a weird plane to hover. happy flying. my citabria weighs in at 8-10 pounds. It hovered very easly, and was able to get to for a while, i busted the gear out of it, along with the belly of the plane last week, a extra 300 is in the process of being built to replace it and have a better capablility of 3D.
Today I was told a trainor wasnt meant for 3D, why, i was doing some with a older superstar, hovering somewhat, hover but it fell down slowly. and had it inverted , the wing was scratching the grass.
Im crazy for my selection of planes and how I fly.

Almost any plane is hoverable. Sig LT Kadets do it very well, Cubs do it. With the right thumbs/fingers and good power to weight. it can be done. I hovered a Dyniflight Decathlon with a Satio 150 last year. At 16lbs it turned into a long stretched out tailslide
But very stable in hover and very controllable.
The picture is of Somenzini at the German Air Show I believe last year.
Happy flying all

try this if you're having trouble... approach slowly then point the spinner north and push you're left thumb forward (mode 2) now keep it straight up and down, if it falls dump ballast!....did it work? lol....I think it's time for a nap
