Hey guys,

Well I have several reviews underway right now.. most have are smaller foamies and just waiting for video time. I decided I would share this one with you guys because it looks like it flies awesome and more like a bigger plane even though it's still small enough to lug around in your car for a quick flight at lunch in a parking lot.

I am sure you have seen them for sale in the Buy & Sell section.. you have probably even noticed they come with servos... price seems right and the videos look good.

The 30E has been around for a little while now and they now have several other planes out that are larger and new models.

I hope to have a chance to show those to you soon as well.. for now I will share with you a build thread on the Katana 30E.

Specs:

Wingspan: 49.21"
Length" 49.21"
Weight: 2.64 Pounds (with 2100 Lipo)
Radio: 4 Channel / 4 servos
Recommended Engine: Hacker A30-14L + x40 Controller

It arrives well packed in a thick cardboard outter box. Inside you will find a well packed airplane that arrives safe and sound.

The packing job was outstanding really.. right down to the fact that even the white painted landing gear was nicely wrapped to avoid any chipping should something get loose in shipping. Everything is securely taped so you shouldnt have any problems with anything moving.

Here are some pics...

Well I still had some time before I should get some sleep..

Needless to say I started to proceed

First is adding the wing fillets to complete the wings... after you use Medium CA to join the fillet to the wing you have to use an iron to seal the covering. It specfies medium heat.. make sure you use it! The covering is very sensitive to heat.

Next is hinging the alerons.. typical CA style hinges.. center them and glue one side in, then the join them.

Make sure you use small drops of thin CA so it doesnt run onto the covering... take your time. I did 2 drops from the front and 2 from behind..

This will wrap up for tonight...

Next you need to cut open the holes for the servos in the wings.

I did the old trick of using a hot sodering iron.

The plane comes with servos and they basically drop right in. You will need to expand the holes just a bit to allow the servos to fit. Will also need a 6" extension.

All the hardware is included and the linkages are pre-made and pre-bent. Just enlarge the servo horn for the hardware and mount the control arms. Goes together pretty easily.. the only thing that is a bit of a pain is that the control horns have a plastic backplate. You have to be careful to get the holes right so you can mount the horns properly. With a littl bit of patience you will have no problem.

Next we will prepare to mount the verticle stab and rudder...

use your sodering iron again and open up the holes in the fuse. The stab mount is already trim and slides in perfectly. Double check your alignment and glue it in. I put a bit of medium ZAP around it and then once it was inplace and aligned just a couple of drops of thin. Doesn't need too much, will just increase the weight... this is a small plane.. little CA will do ya

Next just CA the hinges to the rudder side and let them dry. Put the rudder on the verticle stab and use some CA again to attach the hinges to the stab. Make sure you rock the rudder back and forth to ensure proper throw.

Now look at your elevator and check your throws and make sure there is no binding of the counterbalances.

Get your hinges aligned properly and use a couple drops of thin CA and glue the hinges in the stab ONLY

Then slide your elevator into the fuse and postion it all the way back allowing the stab to be put into place. For now put the hinges in the stab, do not glue them yet. Then slide in the CF wingtube so that you have a frame of reference to align the stabs. Make sure the stab is perfectly level with the wing tube and use a pit of CA to glue it into place. Lastly use some more thin CA to attach the elevator hinges.

Get your tailwheel ready for mounting.

I put the wire through the mounting bracket and bent it back 90 degrees so that it would push into the rudder so you have tailwheel control. Makes for a nice clean mount.

I can attest the quality of the Sebart planes are second to none. I've got the Sukhoi 29 30E model flying myself and am amazed at the performance. This little plane flies like a giant scale. I can fly IMAC sequences as well as 3D with ease and best part is I can use my TRex batteries. John Drake from OMP is now flying the larger e50 Katana and performance is equally amazing. We liked these so much we decided to become a dealer for Sebart! We only have a limited stock but have boththe Kats and the Sukhois now in stock. Keep the build thread coming Sinergy.

Yep it looks great!

My motor and accessories were returned to sender for some unknown reason... they are now resent. Hope to have them by the end of next week for a flight on the weekend.

Will continue the thread soon as I have the parts.
