Default something I need to understand ...

Sounds like the ailerons are overpowering the rudder and elevator or you may have to go to full throttle and then back off after the spin developes. ? Does it do better inverted. You may have to do some experimenting to find the right combination.
Some planes do a great inverted flat by going full right rudder, full UP elevator and full left aileron. Increase throttle and slide the aileron to the right.
It all depends on control throw settings and cg on a plane that will flat spin.

Default something I need to understand ...

Hi
I have about 150 flights on my Fazer and I have learned a lot
about aerobatic/3d flying from it.
For a flat spin I start fairly high up, cut the throttle, use full upelevator, full left rudder, full left ailerons (on low rates).
As the plane starts to spin I will feed in a bit of throttle ( 1/4 - 1/2)
and then slowly move the ailerons from left to full right.
When I do this right, the plane spins around propellor and falls like leaf!! Have even cranked in full throttle!! ( i have re-enforced the fuse considerably).
Too much aileron will make it snap out of the spin so use enough aileron to flatten the spin.

Enjoy
Bill

thanks

when you say you use low rate, are those rates the low rates of the book?
do you use them on all the controls for the flat spin?

ok, because of my unsuccess to flat spin my faser I will move the CG 1/2 inche backward of the recomanded position, this will certainly help, I'll try that tonight

I cured the nose heavy problem of my Fazer by cutting the nose off and shortening the moment. Its a great flying plane, and the one i learned to hover on.

I also cutted the nose when building, the CG was at the recomanded position, but I could get it in a flat spin with the booklet CG, so I putted half a hinch backward, didn't try the plane yet

You'll like it. I shortened mine twice. This plane tolorates an aft CG very well. I also sharpened the leading edge of the wing for better snaps and increased the area of the elevator/rudder by a great deal. I'm afraid I flew it too much, however, as it became so ugly I couldn't stand the sight if it. So I took all the gear out of it and took it to the dump. I'l never forget the perfect outside loop it did as I threw it over the edge and into the trash abiss.
What a plane!

Hey Salmonbug
In reference to my throws
ailerons low rate -1 1/4" up/down
high rate - 2 1/4 " up down
45% expo
rudder- has been enlarged- I use as much throw as I can get

elevator- low rate 3/4 up n down
high rate 1 1/4 up 2" down
25% expo
please note- I only use high rates on the elevator for waterfalls and blenders, normal flying causes it to snap in loops etc.

plus I also use flap mixing- it just seems to smooth things out and makes slow flight less erratic.

for a flat spin I use low rates on ail and elev. and as much rudder as I can get

Hope this helps
Bill

Imarcnut,

I tried your settings today, and my fazer flat spin like an angel (never saw a angel flatspining but who knows, LOL)

my mistake was to have a wayyyyy too much elevator throw

thanks a lot

by the way, I talked to my wife last week about my flatspining troubles and here is what I found in the garden this easter monday morning.
I dunno who suggested her that combo (maybe she has a secret rcuniverse account), but this will be a great flyer
