Funtana 40 s engine ?
hi all!
i just bought a funtana s 40 from a friend of mine
it came with a asp .52 (long stroke) upfront for power

Use a 12.25x3.75 APC prop and 20% Nitro. You will hover at about two clicks past half throttle. And yes, you will be able to acomplish most 3D manuvers, just don't expect much pull out from hover and you will have to fly your manuvers with more throttle.
Also, keep everything as LIGHT as possible. Cut weight if you can.

Somehow i doubt it. To get a good pull out I needed a 91 2 stroke. Remember, were it hovers on the stick doesn't mean anything. It is how it pulls out. If it hovers at 60% throttle and barely pulls out than you are in trouble when you start falling out.

We have a fellow modeler in our club running this same combo. Yes, it does pull out, but very slow. He has cut alot of weight though. CF Rods, Tial skid replacing a tail wheel. Light wheels. Micro servo for throttle. 600mah Nicad. 8oz. fuel tank. And I'm sure a few others.

That Saito will haul it around really well. . .I've got a Saito 1.00 in mine. . .and it's seriously overkill! The Funtana is a fun airplane, but beware the high rate ailerons. . .those big surfaces will make it respond REALLY fast if you leave it on 3D rates when flying "on the wing."

whats wrong with the ailerons?

Yeah im looking faward to flying it with a saito .90 in it. my friend has a showtime 4d with a saito golden knight in front also. were planning to do both planes in similar colour schemes so that it looks like were part of a team! will post pics!

Oh and probably the most important thing is to start high, then you can screw up a few dozen times. You can read all you want, watch videos, etc but that won't do much at all when it comes to actually flying the figures. The simulators can really help get your fingers working quick for some things like rolling harriers and for rudder orientation on KEs etc, but none of them have good enough physics (particularly with respect to snaps) IMHO to really teach you to fly the airplane well enough to fly your Funtana down on the deck right away. . .so there is no substitue for just flying, and flying high enough to keep your plane around long enough to learn!
