Well.... had a dead stick and took out the bottom of my plane today. These 3D arfs are built so light they do not go through even the slightest of outlandings well at all. I did not hit the tera firma at to bad of an angle and it was going slow.... I was shocked to see the damage it did.

On a brighter note..... the APC 14x6 is THE prop for IMAC flying.... I saw 10,000 rpm and richened it to 9800 which is exactly the numbers I was looking for.

I am going to repair it and put a Perry VP-30 on it and see what happens with that set up. Unless any wants to buy a damaged but very repairable airframe?

LOL........ naaaa.. I'm ok.... if ya ain't crashing you ain't flying. I still think the EF Extra is the absolute best plane in it's size available in the universe. I am just happier with bigger planes and gas engines so... I think I am going to do some re-organizing and build a 50cc plane. That's about as small as I want to fly anymore. I have had a great time with the Extra and would highly recomend it to anyone. I would recomend side mounting the Saito with a pitts muffler though. Or even a side mounted OS 55AX. I have never had very good luck with an inverted glow motor.

I seem to be quite fond of Ultimate bipes. I have had a Goldberg, a Dave Patrick, and a 33% Aeroworks (which I wish I had back)

I am leaning towards doing a 65" GP Ulty with a 50cc next. There is a great thread on it here on RCU

We'll see,

So your going to fix it then?

I mean really I have some bigger planes and to tell you the truth Id rather fly this plane around. It loads in the car easy, assembles quick at the field.Much cheaper! I have a 74"Yak I dont even feal like working on now that this plane is in the air running great.

I am going to repair it and sell it. I already removed the electronics and sold the engine. I am in heat for a big Ultimate. I have had a Goldberg Ulty, a Dave Patrick Ulty, and an Aeroworks 33% Ulty (which I reeeeaallly wish I had back)..... seems I keep going back to the Ultimate.... I just love 'em! I think I am going to do a GP Ulty with a DL50.

Don't get me wrong now... I still think the 58" EF Extra is an awesome plane in it's size..... I just like flying bigger stuff and I like gas engines better then glow..... and I like Ultys!!!...love Ultys!!!

I would suggest you set your gear up with nylon screws.... you will have to do something about the area where the gear slips into the notch on the gear plate. Set it up so it can fail at the screws instead of taking half the plane with it.

I should have took pics of the damage I had. It really wasnt too bad but yeah I didnt really hit too hard either. I like the cheap flymsy aluminum ones they take all the impact . The cost is a little money and not valuable time.

Can you take pics of your damage? If the price is good enough I may be inerested in it.

Sure can..... what would you be willing to give for it? Wonder how it would be best shipped... the shipping might be the problem I think. I would take $150 you pay shipping.... will go take a pic right now. Also.... the wheel pants and cuffs are toast.

Anybody need servos???

I have 3 HS-5245MG's and 1 HS-5475MG I bought new.... I still have the boxes etc. I would say they have had 25 flights or less on them. They would bolt right in and they have extensions already hardwired in just for the Extra.

Let me know,

Don't ya just love it when you get a call from the courier to say he has a package for you 'where can I leave it?'.
After many days trying to make up my mind, I finally put my card on the line and ordered the Extreme Flight Extra. Well the YS-63 was giving me an evil look sitting on the shelf!
Placed the order with Freestyle-rc on sunday, and whilst the card was out it magically ordered 4x Hitec 5245's and a 5475(dunno how it happened my hand just kept clicking).

Got that phone call on tuesday, why did I have to be away, work just doesn't take these things into consideration!! I had to wait a whole 2more days to get home and start carefully opening boxes(ok ripping like a lunatic might be better).

I've had a few models before and after all the excitement of waiting you open it up and get a dissapointment. Somethings broken/missing/doesn't fit/etc.

Well guess what.....

That doesn't work for Extreme Flight. Packaging was fantastic, everything taped down so no banging about. First thoughts were they sent one of those foil wraps that marathon runners get(they think of everything and know you'll need to keep warm after the adrenaline of opening the box) Oh wait it's the wings in their own bag! Things just got better, beautiful fuz and canopy with pilot, dash and floor immaculate cowl and good hardware pack. Everything was there, even my servos had arrived. I've so far had a good look at all the joints, nothing loose or badly fitted. Well done Extreme Flight, please others take note this is how it should be done!!

Hopefully time(work) permitting I will have it complete for the weekend. I feel a lot of coffee coming on!!

Set-up will be

YS-63
Rudder- HS-5475HS
Ail- 2x HS-5245MG
Elev- not decided on one or 2 HS-5245MG's
Throttle- undecided(depends on 1 or 2 on elev)

Will let you all know how it goes, cannot wait to get this plane into the air, can honestly say it's the best plane I have bought ever!!

I have one big complaint though.....

Why did I take so long to decide!!

Happy Flying

Hi Guys just got another six flights in today, Im running an OS91 four stroke swinging a 14x6 apc. Flies fantastic, four beeps down and two left,
have 6 cell cr2 pack and 10grams tail weight. What a floater, a real nice plane, just need to control excess torque when trying to fly precise.

The maiden for mine with the Saito 82 will be tomorrow. Ran the engine for a bit today in the back yard to put some time on it and try to get it ready so I wouldn't have to putz around with it tomorrow at the field. Looking forward to getting it in the air.

Has anyone been using spoilerons or flaperons to slow down their landings? One of my clubs just obtained a new field but it has a limited apprach area and a very small landing strip so it's hard to slow the plane down for touch down. I was thinking that flaperons or spoilerons may help slow it down.
Thanks,
Steve

Finally got to maiden this bird today. Weather wasn't what you'd call ideal (20mph gusty winds+showers) but its been sitting looking at me for the past week so it just had to be done.

2 flights in and I know I'm going to have some serious fun with this!! Ys-63 has buckets of power. Managed a quick prop-hang (a first for me) and it punched out at about 1/2 throttle straight up. Just need a good day to give it a good test, hopefully sun will shine on friday!!

Nice one Extreme Flight!!

Maidened mine this past Sunday. Put a couple more flights on it today. The Saito 82 pulls it straight up until I can barely see it anymore. I like it! A lot of the guys have commented on how its a sweet little airplane and I have to agree!

Yeah the plane is fantastic! Ill pull this one out before I even think about the 74"Yak . As long as its in one piece , it will be at the field with me flying.
