nitro models ultimate bipe

Excellent flyer, lightly built with ply for most of the fuselage. Wings are sheeted at the front.
One servo controls both the upper and lower ailerons on each wing half.
You can install the elevator & rudder servos either as PULL PULL's or on the tail, your choice for best C.G.
A 1.20 4C will pull it around with authority... A slightly larger engine would be great, but not too much larger than a 1.40 4C.
The cowl angles sharply. This makes it easy to install a 4C engine inverted in the plane with most of the head exposed.
Side mounting is fairly difficult however.

I read alot on RCU that there is sometimes not to good of help from Nitro when there is problems with their planes!!Also that quality is sometimes not to good. Can you tell what kind of covering is used I have found problems with some Arf's with poor quality covering!! Do you think a Zenoah G23 (1.38 cu) might be too much for this model?? BOB MOORE thanks for your time

I think a gasser 23 cc would be ok for sport aerobatics and thats it..not ideal for gas this lil' one.
Yes the qualiy and covering are of concern, but when shopping for a 200 or less Ulti ARF this is an expected risk??
I am doing a quick assembly for a friend, the structure looks OK,but there is alot more to planes than that.

The covering on this plane LOOKs great.
However as with most Asian arf's ( and with many Arfs for that matter ) the adhesive tends to give with repeated exposure to glow fuel.
I regularly spray Top Flight Clear Coat spray on my Asian Arf's to cure this minor problem.
2-3 coats will do it ( just not on anything clear )....
Buff the covering with a plastic dish pad to roughen it.
Then apply 2-3 coats allowing 15 minutes between coats.
Let dry 48 hours then buff again.
This cures the problem and permits the trim to hold up well.
The newer Version "2" models ( they orangy ones ) seem to hold up better. The edges where the trim ends and the wood begins, seem to be painted to seal these areas. It seems to work, though I'd still apply the Top Flite.
I also looked at putting in a gasser into the 1.20.
I opted NOT to do so because the extreme rake of the cowl would force me to practically expose the entire engine.... so for aestetics I opted for a different engine.

Thanks for the info. I had a Swallow that the fuel ruined the covering. How do you like the the Fly jet and the purple Ultimate ?? BOB

My Purple Ultimate has seen over 200 flights now, and it is still going strong.
I'm due to make some changes to the Flyjet over the winter, so it hasn't seen many flights yet.
I also have a new Falcon 1.20 in box that I have yet to get to... sigh... so many planes, so little time... heh.
