Default tru turn spinner problem

I bought a 3" tru turn spinner and a tru turn four stroke double jam nut adapter for my ys 110. The problem is that the screw which holds the cone into the backplate will not make up enough to bring it tight. Can I solve this with an extra washer?

I would just shorten the screw. That is what I had to do on mine.

If you don't want to cut the screw (which is what I would do). You can buy a shorter 10-32 stainless socket head cap screw at the Hardware store.

Man if you have a dremmel just cut about a 1/4" off the screw you have. Just about all of them have to be shortened to tighten up.
