I recently got my 3d freedom completed and had the first few flights logged. The plane weighs 9lb 12oz with a saito 180 turning a 16x8 prop at 9400rpm. I run it at 9k for flight. the plane doesnt have much ground clearance, thats why the 16" prop.
Take off at 1/2 throttle in 20' and unlimited vertical at 3/4 throttle. to say its over powered is an understatement. Flight performance is EXACTLY as the sig somethin extra, I mean exactly. The only difference is that it will hold a knife edge better. I wont flat spin either. Torque rolls are possible, spins are fast, and it will snap great. Throttle management is a must, i broke my flying wires on the 3rd flight. Landings are a breeze, it drops airspeed fast and floats to the deck.
All in all, if you like the somethin extra, you will like this plane. It isn't the perfect 3d plane but it is very fun. I would say the 180 is too much for this plane, its great but you need to manage the throttle the whole flight. A 120 or 150 would be a better match for the more casual flier.
you can see pics of this plane on the ak site, its the flourescent green plane, and no I didn't pick the colors

Its small for a 9 pound plane! That would explain why it is not the best 3der probably. Thats why im going for a funtana pro- 20 inches bigger in both directions and only a pound heavier.

Actually its not the weight of the plane that makes it a less than perfect 3d plane. After flying the somethin extra and this plane i feel it needs a longer fuse, in the tail area, and just a pinch larger rudder. a 67" span plane weighing in at 9lbs ready to fly, isnt too bad in my book. Any way its alot of fun to fly

I mounted a saito 120 in this plane and made a 20% bigger rudder and the plane is fantastic! It will TR and knife edge all day long. the only negative is above 85° the 120 wont pull out of the TR. For $100 you cant ask for more in this size plane
