No, I meant total hands off. No holding of the rudder which means no mixing. He flew it med speed at hi alpha, wings vertical, then held the transmitter up in one hand by its corner. It went the entire length of the field.

A fellow at our field put 3 gyro's in his Funtana x-100. He had different settings programmed, I think he used a heading hold setting when he went into a hover. he hovered hands off, the only thing he controlled was the throttle. he went up and down doing a number of tail touches only playing with the throttle.

RE: Great Planes Reactor 120-160?
On another note I flew yesterday and the throttle was changing from one flight to another so I put up and went out and bought another throttle servo. Put it in today and noticed that when I put the new servo in and moved it around that the servo arm had stripped out, changed it out too. Oh well, I now have all digitals instead of the one analog throttle servo...

I got down to the nitty gritty on CG yesterday. At first with a rough check it looked like CG would be OK without adding weight. I was wrong. Looks like I'll have to add 3 OZ at the tail for the 7" CG. Did you guys have to add weight? I have a servo case right now with the weight in it and it will work fine. How did you add your weight if you did add some? Here's a couple more pics . Thanks, Bob.

dobro,
Flown yours yet? I vaguely remember checking the CG on mine and have no idea where it is. It flies nose heavy even after I shortened the cowl to move the DA50 3/4" closer to the firewall. Inverted I have to hold down elevator.
My 4-cell, 1100mAhr ignition battery is in front of the wing tube, two 4-cell 1100 behind the canopy and no added weight. After I reset the stab, I will have to consider adding tail weight.

Hey Dobro,
Ditch the Aluminum gear and oversized FG pants. Ditch the Dave Brown spinner and heavy APC. TruTurn with lightened backplate and a nice C/F prop. I would bet you could loose the weight ahead of the wingtube as well as reduce your total airframe weight. C/F gear and pants. It would be a safe bet you would loose another 8 oz at least and all of it in front of the wing tube. I know. It cost bucks. If the CG is still to far forward I bet you could finesse it in with a heavier tail wheel.
Just some food for thought for a good friend.
Rick
15.5# with a Moki 2.10, PRICELESS!!!!

Coronabob, No I haven't flown it yet. I'll fly it this spring. I'll get it ready and I still have a TF Cessna 310 to finish yet. Johns3D, Yeah, he really has to stretch it. I'm going to the RC Expo in Toledo Ohio in about 8 weeks and I'll look at the CF gear that RC11 mentioned. Those are some really good ideas. I'll probably wait and see what I come up with there before I cut any hole in the plane for a servo case to hold weight.

Hey there Obriendigital, Somewhere in a past post I saw where someone said they were able to use, I think it was Graphtech #120. a Hangar 9 33%-35% extra 330 gear. You may want to search this out. I will probably take one side of my gear with me to the Toledo RC Expo and check this all out including the CF wheelpants. RC11 who had the good ideas will be with me .

RE: Great Planes Reactor 120-160?
Final assembly:
CG balanced with no tail weight needed, DLE 55 standard muffler, I did not use the supplied half inch motor mount stand-offs, I set the two batteries 4.8v and a 6volt just arf the canopy as Super08 did in thread 13, and using a CF wing tube.
total weight 14.8 lbs
The instructions of the DLE 55 says it has
14.2Kg of Pulling Force at 100 meters altitude
12.5Kg of Pulling Force at 1800 meters altitude
I took the average and converted it to pounds equaling 29.32 lbs.
almost two to one ration?

Thanks, I am happy, and can't wait to fly it; I am as others waiting on spring.
I used this wing tub HAN475011 (Horizon Hobby) it’s a perfect fit except for length, I accidentally discovered it having the Funtana, tried it, smiled and ordered one.

I bought the 22x10 Wood Sword, Xoar, white with red tips from Chief Aircraft, looks good matching the colors of the plane,
I am told anytime you can buy carbon fiber especially hollow like (Mejzlik) is much better, I may move up to one of these later.
I’d bet some of the other’s with experience here will attest to this?

yes the mejzlik will pull harder than the xoar but it cost more and isn't critical on this plane almost any prop will preform well on the reactor

The Funtana is only 9 lbs compared to a possible 16 lbs for the Reactor, and a lot more wing area when you hit the brakes [&:]
If I knew it would take the abuse, I would have my LHS order one today.

I used an APC one piece 20x10 on this Moki before on the Hangar 9, 1/5 th scale mustang and it was a rocket . I'm considering the CF just to lose some weight up front. I 'm hoping the CF prop and gear will reduce enough weight that I won't have to add 3 oz to the tail and drop me under 16 lb. The APC is on the plane now at exactly 16 lb. and still needing 3 oz at the tail for the recommended 7" CG. I checked out the graphtech gear for the H9 33%/35% extra 330 and it weighs 10 oz. Another 4"to7" of snow starting tomorrow. I'm thinking of a set of snow skis for the
