RE: Great Planes Reactor 120-160?
I have went with a Vess 22B then Vess 23A. There isn't a lot of prop clearance so a CF prop scares me a bit, because of replacement costs...plus I think Vess makes an awesome prop

I've been running a CF wing tube in mine and it's putting up with the abuse just fine.I have the TBM one along with another member here and snaps/walls are no problem so far...as was the experience with the other member...

That one is readily available through my LHS for the same price as listed on the Horizon site.
Thats why I was asking if the Hangar 9 one would stand up to the Reactor?
What is the wall thickness of the TBM tube?
What is the wall thickness of the Funtana tube ?
If the wall thickness is the same on the TBM tube and the Funtana tube, than it should be good.

The Hangar 9 or Funtana is .050''

Looks like the Funtana one has a thicker wall
Are you able to weigh the Funtana one?
TBM claims 1.9ozs for theirs.

I'm picking up my new Reactor this week and was also planning on using the Funtana tube; it's only $20 from Horizon. Hope it is thicker as stated; keep us posted on your findings.

.....and what was wrong with the length? Was it too short or long?
Brad if it is too long and just needs to be cut, then perfect. I see Great Hobbies sells them as well.

The Hangar 9 one is a lot easier to get

RE: Great Planes Reactor 120-160?
LOL, I wanted to double check my provided information, as it was early this morning when I measured the thickness of the Hanger 9 Funtana wing tub, so I waded the blowing cold snow from the house to the shop, as the lock on the shop was frozen I had to use a lighter to warm it to get it open:
It is .050†thick
The outside diameter is .867 exactly the diameter of the metal one (or what ever it’s made of)
I had to cut off a little more than 7 inches to match the metal one.
The weight after cut is
88 grams or 3.10 oz
The metal one is 328 grams or 11.55 oz

Now it is a race between Brad and I to get one first. If I were a betting man I would put my money on Brad as I live in the great white north.....
BTW thanks a bunch Tonman!!

If I order tomorrow, my LHS places the order on saturday. Their orders from Horizon arrive the next friday at around 2 pm.
I have helped them unload the Big Brown Truck one more than one occasion
I then need to look into a lighter landing gear. The current gear weighs 12.10 ozs. If I can shave 8 or 9 ozs there and 8 ozs with the wing tube. That will be a full pound off my 18 lb flying weight...WooHoo [sm=spinnyeyes.gif]

RE: Great Planes Reactor 120-160?
Ordered the Funtana tube today. It should be here Friday next week.
Now the search for a suitable Carbon gear. My LHS has a nice Carbon gear that they ordered for another customer. Then that customer decided not to buy it.
It is for an SD Models 100cc Yak. It was about an inch taller than the Reactor gear which would have been a bonus since I will be swinging 23 or 24 inch props.
But we threw it on the scale and it weighed 10.2 ozs. No savings there.
So I am looking for a Carbon gear in the 3.5 to 5 oz range.
Then I will probably replace the Tru Turn Ultimate spinner with a Carbon one as well.
Combined, everything would get me more than a full pound lighter. Somewhere around a pound a quarter.

After you click "Reply".. just under the text box, there are 2 links. One of them says "Click here to upload images or files"
Then select the photo from your computer and follow the rest of the instructions.
Hope that helps

Picked up the Funtana wing tube yesterday.
Just finnished cutting it down and weighing it.
Here is a picture of the stock wing tube on the scale and the Funtana tube cut to size.
Stock = 11.5 ozs
Carbon = 3.15 ozs
8.35 oz saving [sm=thumbs_up.gif]
The fit in the wings and fuselage is perfect. Snug, just like the original. But no extra force required.

This is a very fun plane. You guys that haven't flown them yet have a great experience to look forward to. This plane will do the best blenders/inverted flat spins of any "gas" engine plane I have. I does them very well. Much better than my EF Yak or AeroWorks Yak or Cap or Edge. It's half the money and at least as fun. Great Plane, pardon my pun.
thanks
