RE: 71" Peakmodel Yak 54
Sorry guys, haven't done much in the last few weeks. The plane's all ready to go except I need to finish breaking in the engine. Only one problem, were sitting on almost a foot of fresh snow and it keeps comming. [:@] Below freezing temperatures and snow isn't the best weather for breaking in engines. I'm ready for the ski season, I just want to fly my Yak first! Also, as many people seem interested, I will try to weigh it sometime in the near future.

I have one of these planes. I got mine from East Rc but I like your trim scheme better. It looks very nice. I'm running an OS 1.60 FX with tremendous success. 18 X 6 APC turning about 8500. She flys straight and handles my abuse. Mine comes in about 10.75 LBS and flys light on the wings. Plenty of pullout from a hover and inverted flatspins are tight. Knife edge flight has a little coupling but not enough to worry about mixing out. It could just be a trimming issue as I'm a bit on the lazy side! I did replace some of the hardware with SAE stuff and put on an Ohio Superstar tailwheel. I also used a 3000 MAh battery (read brick!) to get the CG back. Anyway, congrats on your plane. I'm sure you'll have a blast with her, I have!!

Sorry still haven't flow it. Haven't had a chance to break in the engine yet. After about a week of snow it has warmed up and the road to our field is deep, wet mud. It's suppose to be warm this week, hopefully the road dries out and I can break in the engine and maiden her this weekend. Also, I will try to remember to look for my scale and get it weighed for those of you who would like to know.

RE: 71" Peakmodel Yak 54
Sup Guys..... I too purchased the 71" Yak54. I got the SPE43 with mine. (My 1st gaser) I did a thread in gas motors on this project.
Maybe you'd like to check it out. I got alot feed back. My concern was now that I have it, is it to much weight for this plane.
I haven't started my build yet though. I need to see what size servos I'm getting ect. I was thinking on the Futaba 3305's Anygood?
I think they have 124oz with 6 volt system. Those pictures were alot of help to me in that above my thread. (Was little lost on there linkage to servos)

Tell me what you guys that have this combo think.

I bought the Extra 330L and put a SV26cc on it. This thing humps. I know this is Yak thread, but just wanted to report that my 26cc can pull my 1/4 scale pretty good. Also I know my Extra has 68" wings, so it maybe a little less drag the 26cc needs to fight.

Sup guys....been quite.............I'm waiting to hear if anyones been up with there Yak. Mostly interested in the one with the SPE 43. Was that Paul? Anyway, I havent done nothing with mine yet. The boss said make a wish list for servos, etc. So I just go to the garage every night and just check it out ....... I already looked at all the hardware opened it up and got some idea what I have. I'm glad you put some pictures in there Paul of some of your finished product. I'm not to up on this hardware or tring to setup a pull pull set up. I'm in a club so if I really get stuck I'll get help, but I'd like to try to do this on my own with the help of some of the guys that have this same bird.
Anyways, if you guys do your maiden fill us in.

I am also planning to purchse this YAK with MLD28. I still couldn't decide which 25% model from peak.
Is EDGE540T any good?
Paul, what size of prop are you using for MLD28?
Peakmodel says 17x8 (sport) -18x8(3D)18*10(3D) on MLD28 for this plane on their home page tho.
Thanks.

to RJetss: SPE43, I think it is a little big for this yak. but now the price is veay low that with MLD28 is just $499.. I got this combo on $539[:@]
to lovefool: yeah, EDGE540 is a good kit. But i have no this edge from peak. so i don't know more about this one, but i know that this edge is very very good to do 3D as i saw some infromation on some forums. I use hawk 18x8 prop form peak, very good.

Paul, thanks for your quick response. I will buy a couple of Hawk 18x8 prop as well.
I have been reading threads about peakmodel, and I have found this YAK has only one servo for Elevator.
Is this wire connection strong enough? Can I modify two servo installation?
Currently I am building CMP Katana 140 and I am putting FUJI BT-34EIS. Hopefully I will maiden this Katana in a week or two. But I can stop ordering a new model now.

Pull/pull system is OK as long as you use the servo according to how you will fly it. Just make sure the hardware is going to be up to the job at both ends. Real aircraft use the same thing..

Thanks again, Paul ...
I have Dubro 4-40 and 2-56 ball links on hand, so I can use them.
BTW, I am wondering you are living in EST time zone....

I don't know this particular make of ARF but you can always make it stronger with some flat carbon fibre if you think its not strong enough, give it the careful twist test and if there is flex then strengthen it.

Paul, how is your MLD28 running?
Don't you have any ignition problem like often heard about on SPE engines. ( I guess SPE and MLD manufacturers are same.)
Peakmodel is selling RCECL ignition at $41, so I am wondering if I better to prepare for replace.
