hi vease in the instructions on the flip you put a wire from the top of the fuz through the tail plane then bottom of the fuz then through the pail plane on the other side then back to the top of the fuz again so you make a sort of daimond shape with the wire.........
i noticed your in kent me to where abouts are you im in chatham

Oh like that, I get ya.
I'm in the Bickley club and our site is between Swanley and Dartford.
Were you happy with Alans attitude and service towards your problem.

Good. He should have done.
I am also very happy with the deal he's given me.
Recognising a fault and dealing with it keeps customers and a reputation.
And yes I have heard of your club and it's size!!!! No turbines or large models at your site I guess

as for our club its great we can fly 7days a week and ive only ever seen 6 members there at one time and thats including me
and we all have our own chnl so every can fly at the same time... the joy's of being a small club i guess 24 members....
glad alan done you a deal have you got it yet or are you waiting for it??

Miskin,
Did you use the stock plastic control horn clevis that came with the kit? If so did you notice if they had come off the control horns when you picked up the parts?
I had two scary flutter incidents of the tail before I changed to Metal Sullivan clevises and tightened the cables. Also upped the servo voltage. No sign of flutter since.
Remember make your cables nice and taught like a guitar to help prevent any flutter and absoultey DO NOT FLY FAST. No more than half throttle if level should keep it safe. The hype is more of a stringless kite. Flops and spins like a fish out of water it is not meant to fly like a P51.

hi blackcloud i did use the clevis's that came with the kit but they were still attached to the tail plane i did not check the tension of the cables before hand so i asume it was that that caused the flutter....
my friend how also has a hype flew his for the first time on sunday just after mine he also had major flutter but managed to bring it in safely he checked his cables and they were loose hi tightened they up and so far not any flutter but he only flew it once after that .....
thanks for the advice i didn't really know how tight to do them

Well, after my hype (first batch model) being destroyed on Sunday and making my feelings known to Westerns. A brand new kit arrived on my doorstep Tuesday lunchtime!!!!!!
Taking it on the chin and admitting a problem first and then speedy service on a replacement second means that wester UK's reputation will only be praised by me.
Can't wait to get the new one in the air and see how different it is to my first one!

My old hype had a brand new Irvine 53 with the hype pipe and turning a 13x4. It was going great before burying itself.
First impressions of the new one is that it looks a lot better in many ways.
I've got 2 other projects on the go ate the moment thjjough so it'll have to wait a while

It was one of Alan's pipes.
I still can't understand why you got flutter.
It can really only be one of 3 things or a combination of them
1 - VERY loose linkages
2 - flying MUCH too fast
3 - Big gaps in the hinge line. They must be as tight as possible, and that goes for any model

the only thing i can put it down to is loose linkages i was not going fast it was on idle doing a slow pass it just flapped like a bird then snapped the tail plane in half...
my friend also has a hype also haflutter on the same day but his never broke he brought it in and checked it over and his linkages were loose he tightened them and hasn't had flutter again but he has only flown his twice...
so we will find out on sunday

That would certainly do it!!
The cables need to be tought. Not tight but tought. They shouldn't be so tight that they are stretched but they also shouldn't sag.
You must also make sure that the servo output is the same width as the horns of the moving surface otherwise the geometry is all wrong.
Good luck for Sunday and post how it goes

hi vease
flew the hype today with no problems
the west 50t1 engine run's good and strong turning a 13x4w at 12100 rpm ...just doesn't seem to have enough power to escape from a hover if things go wrong (maybe it just me)
only had 2 flights because we had a funfly comp today spent most of the day flying the cougar(great fun) i can hover that about 5ft of the floor im to scared to bring the hype down that low (doesn't pull fast from a hover like the cougar)
also had a couple of flights with my flip 3d which seems the same as the hype on pulling from a hover its running a irvine 53 12.25x3.75 prop????
as for the hype i love this plane .......roll on next sunday so i can fly it again
vease how's yours doing ??????

That's good news.
It takes a while to get used to the hype cause it does some fuuny but great things.
Enjoy it!!!
Mine's still in it's box till I get the other projects done.
How did your funfly go. I believe Kevin and Malcolm Saunders were there as I saw them at my field Saturday when I was test flying a model ready for wings and wheels
