RE: New Aeroworks .60/.90 Planes
Hey Thiago,
I have Hyperion Atlas DM-20 FMD on each Aileron and on the Rudder. I have a Hitec HS-225MG on each elevator half. I'm about to put an Apogee 1570mAh 2S Lipo and Reg on it. I have a Saito 100 fully inverted in the front of the nose. I've got an APC 16x4W and a TruTurn spinner. I used all stock and all original hardware. I don't know what else you may want to know. If I forgot something please let me know!

Oh, I forgot to mention. I was out flying my plane today with my Saito 100. It has about 4 or 5 tanks through it so far and has GREAT pull-out from vertical. I'm extremely happy with the vertical performance.

Thanks again Victor,
so let´s buy the saito 100.
Do you know the dry weight?
What the size of the tru turn spinner you are using?

I think I'm using a 2.5" spinner. I bought the Wide Cut Ultimate spinner because of personal preference. I thought the shape looked the best, and I wanted to run either a 16x4W or 15x4W (I'm still not sure which one) so I got the Wide Cut version. I don't know what the dry weight is, but it flies really light. Three different guys pointed it out at my field before I really started noticing it. It really DOES fly light. I'm going to shave like 4oz off the weight by installing a 2S lipo and regulator.
About flying 3D, I haven't really started wringing this plane out yet. KE flight is pretty good. It snaps and tumbles well. It hovers pretty well. Rolls like a maniac. Harriers and spins are good. Everything it does though is really hurt by the fact that my plane is really nose heavy right now. I know that moving the CG rearward will really help every single maneuver. The whole plane just feels nose-heavy. I'm dying to start sliding the CG back. It's sooooo helping.

Thanks again VIctor...
i think the wide cut ultimate spinner looks good too.
i am waiting my aw extra 260.
So let me know when you find the best propeller and how are going your 3d flights.
Do you know if the AW extra 260 is similar to the 3d flight of the AW edge 540 .46-.60?
good flights.

RE: New Aeroworks .60/.90 Planes
It looks like in this thread that tomcraig is the only one that has tried a FA82 I have a FA82 in a hangar9 Showtime50 that is a longer and heavier plane (showtime specs 57" ws 772 in of area on wings 6 to 7 lbs 59" long and the aeroworks specs are 60" ws 690 in of wing area 6-6.5lbs and 55" long) would you say that if I am fine with the vertical on the showtime that I would be cool with the extra. I am not a hardcore 3d pilot other than weight I dont know how the other # in the specs affect the vertical performance. I do like to hover some and have no problem with the power on the showtime you just cant expect to get into trouble and blast out of it.

Yeah, if you like the power of your Saito 82/Showtime 50 combo then the AW/FA82 combo will make you happy too. I've flown a Showtime 50 and really wasn't impressed with its flying qualities. It was okay, but nothing great. This plane IS what I was looking for. I'm REALLY excited with it.
I have no idea what the AW Edge flies like, but simply judging from the Spec's I'd imagine it flies a lot like the AW Edge. They have about the same wingspan, weight, wing area, and length. It's possible that AW did a better job choosing the airfoil for their new line (not that I've heard anything bad about the AW Edge's airfoil). All I know is that my plane flies REALLY well. It's the best flying plane I've ever flown besides a 40% Carden Giles. And honestly, the Carden didn't fly all that great compared to this plane (just flew bigger).

Here's a link to mine done up in the electric setup.
[link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=8483764]AW Extra 260 Electric setup.[/link]
Mine weighs 61/2 lbs. It's kinda heavy. I wish it were about a 1lb lighter.
I might take a dreml to mine.

Good looking Electric set-up! I just don't know if you're going to be able to hit 5.5lbs and still have a sturdy airplane. Have fun with it! I'm hopefully going to be maidening my electric Extra soon (it's a Hyperion 40e that was going to have a 46AX in it). I just don't know if I could handle such a big electric plane.

Alot of the material I remove will be in the front. I fly with the 5s pack against the spar and I could use a tad more for 3d.
You'll like the bigger electrics. I do. I fly GS planes and these seem like park fliers. The electrics are more controlable than the nitro stuff I think.
I don't do nitro anymore.
Good luck on your maiden.

RE: New Aeroworks .60/.90 Planes
Here's some updated photos of mine. Finally got the decals on. I think it looks good.
I used some of the kit decals and the rest from Bad Brad Graphics.
It's gonna match my 75cc 260.
I installed a cockpit photo and a Pilot X from Extreme Flight.
Notice the powered by on the cowl. I thought it would be fun.

Hey Cory, how's your "diet" going? Oh, and did you weigh the plane before AND after?

No Diet yet. It could lose a pound or so. It flies good though.
Wing Rock sucks upright. I's a keeper for now. It's gonna match my 75cc 260.
It weighed 6 1/2 pounds with the 5s Flight Power 3700mah lipo pack.
Gonna be getting some new 30c packs so it oughta provide more power.
My FP packs are a little tired.

RE: New Aeroworks .60/.90 Planes
I've got two flights on her. Was having a little issue with needle valve setting. I think the 16x4w might be a bit too much prop. I run 20% fuel at 850' elevation. I am going to try a 15x4W prop and see if it likes it better. The plane seemed very stable and flew really nice. Did not get to ring it out much so time will tell. About where should the needle settle into when it is running at peak RPM. I was thinking before when I had this Saito 100 in my U CAN DO it was around 1 1/2 turns out. Does that seem a little lean? Looking forward to getting this thing tweaked and running good. Do you guys think those clips on the wing studs are a pain in the ***** or what. Is it a must to use them. I am thinking about putting a second wing bolt in mine and not fool with the clips.

I actually just use the rear clips and the wing bolt. I've added a washer to my wing bolt so I can get it tighter. After several full-deflection, high-throttle snaps, it's holding together fine.

RE: New Aeroworks .60/.90 Planes
Hi Guys,
I have a Saito 82 sitting here. I just wanted to know if that would be enough engine or if I need to get a different one what would be a couple good options in 4 stroke?
What is a good engine weight to make the Edge balance without adding much weight?
Thanks any input

I use a small pair of hemostats to put my wing clips in, makes it very easy.
Victor,
I am at 2 3/16" on my CG and that seems to be spot on for me. Rock solid harriers, good hovering, and no wing rock. When it was a little more nose heavy (first flights) it had just a slight amount of wing wag in harriers but it was still pretty solid. This little fellow is just an awesome plane for it's size. Oh, by the way mine weighs just a tick over 7 lbs but I have a SuperTigre 90 converted to gasoline/spark on it. That might affect where the CG needs to be but 2 3/16" seems to be very good on mine. I started out with it just shy of 2" and then moved the batteries back to arrive at 2 1/4". The final 1/16" was adding a tiny piece of lead to the tail but in all honesty the plane was great at 2 1/4", I just like them a little more tail heavy than most folks. Makes you stay on your toes landing though.

RE: New Aeroworks .60/.90 Planes
I have been thinking about one of these planes and using a Saito 115. I fly at over 5000 ft. altitute and a Saito 91 on a 7 lb. plane has good power, but is not very overpowered. The Saito 115 is about 4.6 oz. hevier than the 82 and is the same size as the 91.
Saito 82 - 16.0 oz., 104 mm length (back of carburetor to front of prop drive flange)
Saito 91 - 19.6 oz., 116 mm length
Saito 115 - 20.6 oz., 115mm length
