MVVS 35cc on Midwest Extra????

I know this isn't the right place to put this but I wasn't getting alot of help in the engine section so I thought i'd come over here to see if anybody knew how good (or bad) this engine was. I was gonna put it on my Midwest Extra hoping for some 3d. How well would that work?

Are you talking the 80" midwest extra, that usually comes in at 18 lbs. If so I would go 50 cc. the mvvs 2.15 seems to be a monster for a 12-13 lb plane, but you would be pushing it at 17-18

I'm kinda on a limited budget since I'm only 15 and waiting for the people to call back to see if I got a job or not so is there anything else out there? What about the ZDZ 40?

I am using a moki 210 with a midwest cap232 80 inch wing. Weighs in at 15 pounds. I TR at just a little over half throttle. Only problem is nitro so I run no nitro powermaster fai 9 bucks a gallon and I survive.

You couldn't be more wrong. Do you actually have a moki?
Moki engines are designed to run on straight , cheap fuel!
You are supposed to get 25-27lbs of thrust out of a Moki 210, so if your less than 16lbs you should get an agressive climb out of a prop hang.
You save a lot of weight with the moki over petrol so it will fly a lot better- especially for 3D.
Nanus Cap with Moki 210 weighs 15 pounds.
TD1's cap weighs 18 pounds with ZDZ 60.

Yes, the Mokis do burn cheap fuel. Only 10 bucks a gallon for 0%instead of 15 for 10% nitro. My 1.8 was putting me in the poor house; couldn't imagine what the 2.1 would do. I'll stick with burning fuel that only costs 2 bucks a gallon and doesn't leave slime all over the belly. As for the aggressive climb, well you can watch the DP330L vids on 3dbatix.com. That's on a lighter DP Extra, and my Midwest will still outclimb that.

Moki? have been there for long time....I sold all the big nitro engines: Mokies 1.8 and 2.1, OS BGX 2.1, Super Tigre 3200 some time ago.
Moki is the best nitro engine in it's class but still drinks lots of fuel to fly only 10 maybe 12 minutes, I can make my 2 Midwest Caps 16 or 17 lbs with any good and light 50cc Gas engine (ZDZ-50, BME-50, DA-50), can have better performance, fly more time and the most important thing, $1.70 a gallon on my next Shell gas station.

I heard back from the people and I got a job. I might be starting around next week so I might be able to save up for a gas engine now. But I still want to save up for a car and college so I don't know yet. I've only been in this for about 4 years and I have never spent around $600 before and buying an engine about 6 times more than the airplane just seems too expensive. I'm going to have to think about it. If I do go gas I'm thinking about the ZDZ 50.

Look into the Classified section of RCU. I bought a used BME 3.5 for about 1/2 price of new. You should be able to find a real good deal. Don't be scared of used engines especially a gasser. My used BME turned out to be better than I expected.

is Nitro engine an american term?
It seems to be incorrect anyway.
The term that it used to describe Mokis e.t.c
is Glow engines.

I have flown the Mokies with 5% and 10% Nitro... so it's still a nitro engine

Well I am personally biased to MVVS engines. If you are on a limited budget, then it can't hurt to use it for now till you get the money for a bigger engine. You will at least have the chance to get used to the plane and then really have a blast when you get a better engine.
The guys advising you to go for 50cc gas know what they are talking about, it will really let you get the most fun out of the plane, low fuel cost, and clean (no gook to clean off)
