Hi, its TF96. I have a question ; what plane would be a more "beginner or novice" type of plane for 3D ? I've been soloed up for quite awhile & I'm getting bored w/ the usual/basic loops & aileron rolls. I would like to learn more 3D type moves, which brings me to my question, which plane would best help me learn aerobatics beyond your basic loop, aileron roll, etc. ? Any suggestions are welcome & appreciated. Thanks.

You're going to hate me for saying this, I'm apologizing in advance. You're going to hear this a billion times before it's over, but Mojo's are awesome.
Really, any 40-sized profile plane would work perfectly well. A Tribute, an OMP profile, or a Mojo are all great examples of great options. Really, just choose which one you like the best visually and go with it. The only plane that deserves special notice is the Mojo because of its Carbon tube. It's definitely more resilient because of that tube. The Tribute is also a little weaker than the norm (harder to fix, too).
As far as I'm concerned, any decent 3D profile will do. What you need to focus on is burning fuel as quickly as possible.

I have a Futaba EXAS 6 channel, my dad is running a Spektrum Dx6i. I currently do not have an engine that isn't in anything already. Once I find the right plane, then, I'll get the engine. Will pull up OMP's site & check out the profile. "Mojo's" were mentioned, are they just a basic 3D profile plane, or what ? I have never heard of these & I'm just wondering what they are exactly. Thanks.

[link=http://swanyshouse.com/mojo/mojo.aspx]Here[/link] is the link to the Mojo. It's supposed to be the absolute best plane to learn to fly 3D with. If you do an RCU search on the Mojo you'll see the swarms of people swearing by the plane. The OMP planes are great too, but from what I've heard the Mojo is just more durable.

I've heard of the SIG Mayhem, U-Can-Do 3D's, Twists, etc. Would any of these be good ones ? Down in the workroom I do have a U-Can-Do 3D .60 ARF that is still in the box, but, I don't know if I can handle it just yet. I'am looking for a Glow, not electric. The above mentioned are all Glow & their are lots of them out at our field. I've had my eye on a Twist for awhile now. Thanks.

Cant go wrong with a Twist or the UCD 60. Both fly excellent. I ran a .61 in my .40 size Twist. POWER!. Profiles are great too. I have a Morris TopCat with a OS 55. Excellent flyer and durable. The elevator got stuck in the down position while doing tumbles just today when I was flying it for the first time. I landed it doing tumbles, inverted. No damage. It was cool.

Twists really are NOT 3D planes. They're goofy fun-fly planes. They don't do any 3D moves besides hovering and MAYBE a harrier/elevator every once in a while. UCD's don't really fly well either. Neither of them fly nearly as well as even a bad profile plane. I've yet to fly a Sig Mayhem, but they look just like UCD (and they look like they fly the same). I would definitely stay away from them, DEFINITELY get a profile plane.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I just mainly want a plane that I can fly all this season & learn some mild 3D, later on I'll probably be getting a profile or something and do the more "crazy stuff". Just kinda gradually get into more difficult 3D stuff ; gotta learn to walk before you can run
My dad has a Mayhem, and a Pizzaz & he said that in his opinion I'd do fine on either one of them. Although, w/ the UCD 3D .60 it is still in need of an engine, servos, reciever, etc. It comes out to like $300 bucks. I've got some thinking to do
Thanks again.

TF96, of course you should buy what you like. BUT, if you want to learn 3D the easy way a profile is the ticket. I think your going about it backwards. Learn your 3D on a profile, then transfer to a full fuse plane. Your skills will develop faster doing it this way. IMHO.

I agree with Dave. Get a profile. You'll be able to fly mild 3D...and once you start progressing you'll be able to move onward to more advanced tricks. Those full-fuse fat-wing funfly planes just don't really do anything well. They're not very stable nor are they good at 3D. UCD/Twist/Pizzazz/SSE are the last planes that I would recommend. Sorry....I've just never been a big fan of those planes. I just don't believe that they do anything well.

Mojo for the win!! While the OMP planes have their followers and fly ok the Swany planes are superior in flight qualities and will flex to a degree (since they don't have fuse sheeting as mentioned in the advertisement above
) and WILL take more abuse. All it takes is some searching around-check out t h e p r o f i l e b r o t h e r h o o d and you will quickly see whose planes are most popular and why.
