Default THROTTLE SERVO SPEED

WHAT WOULD BE THE OPTIMAL SPEED FOR A THROTTLE SERVO ON A 4 STOKE ENGINE? IM SURE TOO FAST RESULTS IN A DEAD STICK, HOWEVER, WOULD BETTER THAN .21 SECS HAVE ANY IMPROVEMENT IN RESPONSE?

I just use standard servos on 4 strokes for maaany years.Properly tuned they respond, perfectly to the servo. Not sure if the engine could spool up and down much quicker.Maybe a YS is quicker than a standard servo.Really depends on how you fly

I was just curious. I make certain that my engines are very well adjusted. I take it very seriously as I fly over a pond. As I was breaking another engine in today I noticed the normal lag of fractions of a second when jumping from idle to mid/full throttle, and was just curious.

I've got a Hitec HS6975HB running the throttle on a Saito 91 and it doesn't dead stick. I am running a five cell pack and I think at 6 volts the 75HB is listed at .10 . Before you ask it is a spare I already had so I used it instead of buying a new servo. It and the Saito are on an AeroWorks Extra 260 QB and yes I do feel the faster servo helps with throttle response which to me matters when doing things like hovering.

Thanks Jezmo. I wasnt sure if a digi servo would be too fast for throttle. I will give it a shot and see how I feel about it. Thanks again.

I've got a servo rated at .09s and it's a lot of fun to have a servo quicker than your engine's response.

Yeh Vic, I agree, it makes you feel more comfortable doing the close to the ground stuff. The thumb seems to be more in control of whats going on with power and when my tail is fixing to touch the ground in a hover it just adds confidence. Have a good one man.

Exactly what im looking for. That quick response without too much lag - obviously with a properly tuned engine.

Do you guys have any suggestions on servo - I am looking for something around .10 range that isnt too pricey. Futaba doesnt really seem to have anything and Most of the hitecs are mini servos.

So ive decided to give the Hitec HS-82MG a shot at .10sec. Do you think I will need to re-tune since im using a much faster servo? I broke in and tuned the engine in using a .19 sec servo.

You have to tune the engine every day you fly.

This is true with 2 stroke, but doesnt seem to be the case for 4 stroke.
