I picked up my Twist at the LHS this afternoon. The quality is excellent including the covering.
Here is the facts: Box as delivered weighs 6 lbs 9 Oz's. Box empty except for manual and other
literature weighs 3 Lbs 7 Oz's. Complete plane still in it's plastic bags weighs 3 Lb's 2 Oz's.
With every thing out of it's plastic wrappers you will have an airplane weight of about 3 Lb's.
Hardware, Axels, Wheels, Landing Gear, all look good!!!

Appears to be very sturdy and strong. Started the assembly and all is going well, good directions too. Can't wait to finish it!

Ok, I couldn't stand it, I had to go get mine. Excellent condition, wing is already put together for you. You could seriously build this plane in one evening. All there is to do is mount engine, servos, put in hinges and glue the tail feathers!

The only problem I see is that I seriously doubt you are going to be able to do high speed runs with this plane. Control surfaces are way bigger than I expected. Ailerons are as big or bigger than my su-do-khoi, but they do seem to be built stouter.

somebody will probably have one together tomorrow. I know if I wasn't out of town, mine would be RTF on Sunday!

I cannot believe how strong this plane is! It is very very sturdy and goes together very easily. I got most of it done last night and will finish today. Mostly just radio gear to install and setup now. They even put in a tube for your anntenae that runs all the way out to the bottom of the plane! Seems much more sturdy than the funtana I had as well. JUst my 2 cents.

Do you think I could fly it with an ST-51? I've been looking at the funtana but for my secod plane i need somthin cheaper. Still not decided PLEASE give a flight report asap.

What motors are you guy's using in the twist?
Do you think a 46/50 would have enough power to hover?
I guess the Saito 72 would be the perfect match for it .

I'm guessing a .46 fx should hover it with a fun fly prop. The plane is rated for a .40-.46 2 stroke and .56-.72 4 stroke. Usually the upper end of the engine range does pretty well if propped right.

I am going to use a 46fx with a modded muffler; this should give it plenty of power with a fun fly prop. I would recomend the plane as it seems to be built a lot stronger than the funtana.

I am waiting for mine [:o]. My LHS should have them in a day or two. I was thinking about powering it with a OS .50. I belive this should be very sufficient for hovering:D. Just can't beat the price. I might have to buy another just for fun.

Here are some pics. I just got home tonight and spent about 2 hours on it. Hopefully I can finish it up tomorrow night and possibly maiden it on Wednesday. (we share a field with some soccer kids, and our day is Wed). Everything seems to be very high quality, covering is excellent. I am disappointed in the 4 1/4 inch ailerons. Horizon said it would be able to do high speed runs as well as 3d, but I should have known that you can't have your cake and eat it too!

Anybody flown one yet?

I am anxious to hear how this bird flies, and also find out about any problems/things to correct/improve during the assembly process. I am seriously considering picking one of these up in a week or two for my next airplane.

Edit - does anyone know if it has a fully symmetrical airfoil? And can someone provide an AUW? And is the covering on the bottom a different color/pattern than the top?

picked mine up yesterday from lhs, everything looks great. Hey "cumn thru" to answer your electric question "yes" the instructions include a setup page for a Hacker and Ly- Poly powerplant but you need to supply some mounting hardware. I have both a o.s.
.46 ax and a .50 sx that I am looking at using, but would love to use a webra .61 just incase I need to launch out of a hover gone wrong. I've been looking for mounting dim. on the webra online but Horizon's site lacks info. When I installed the motor mounts they almost touch the fuselage sides so I don't think a .61 will fit. I'm not a 4 stroke fan but a Satio .72 is listed in the assembly manual for extra power. Hope to be flying by Wed. and will post again after first flights.

Figures, My pop ordered one at LHS and as he's exaiming the wing he can hear the sounds of shattered balsa. He's going to see what horizon is going to do about it...Cute airplane...If it's like the Pizazz that I have, I'd say mount a 60 size engine. I've got a Kraft 60 in mine...Awsome...

The bottom of the wing and stab are purple, and the fuse is yellow like the top. The only thing I've noticed is that my nylon bolt for the wing doesn't seem to tighten down right. I may have to get a new one, but I really haven't looked into it much.

I don't think you'll be able to squeeze a .61 in there without some major modification. My .46 fx was pretty tight.

That's my roommates tax return, mine's already spent :)

Well, after seeing on here that they were arriving at the LHS around the country, I went out to mine Saturday to see if they had gotten any in. They had one the shelf! It had arrived that day. I opened it up to make sure all the parts were there (but didn't do a close inspection), and bought it. Got it home, started assembly, and started hearing something rattling around in the wing...lots of something. Well, I began inspecting, and found that several of the ribs were cracked from front to back, and parts were missing on some of them. It is a very light looking structure, and would likely need those parts! I called the hobby shop, but the guy on the phone said they didn't have another. I got in the car to take it back and get my money back. When I got there, one of the managers said he had one more in the back! We THOROUGHLY inspected this one, and again it came home!

I got to do some assembly yesterday, and so far it looks like a decent arf. The only problem (on the second kit ) has been that the laser cut servo openings in the wings and on one side of the fuse were too small. A little trimming took care of that. I have Hitec 425BBs all around, but haven't decided on an engine. I have a couple of K&B screamin .48 sitting around waiting for new planes, which I had planned to use...until I saw the ad for the new Saito 82. Same size and weight as the 72, but even more power...don't know if I want to spend the bucks on a new engine or not.

I am also not sure about the strength of the fuse at the front of the wing saddle, time will tell I guess. I also think it they should have left of the "twist" decals, the colors don't match the plane, and they just look stupid.

I too had a problem with the wing bolt, but I used a bigger screwdriver and ran it in and out a couple times and all is good. I also ditched the wheels it came with and went with foams to save some weight - stock ones seemd to heavy. Mine does not appear to be weak at any point, but time will definitely tell. Will fly tonight and see how she does.
