RE: Freestyle Rush
It should be easy to video because you only need about a 20' box to fly in :-) Won't even need the zoom ;-)
|
RE: Freestyle Rush
I've sorted out the original colour drawings for the Cyclone, Rush, Formula etc that I did for the colour scheme ideas. If there's enough interest I could post them for people to use for wallpaper! What you think?

RE: Freestyle Rush
do it :)
Dean, got your whole flight on video from Woodsprings, but be sure when my sites back up it won't be 15mb zzzzzzz :p |
RE: Freestyle Rush
Hiya Phil,
How did the weekend go, I spoke to Ken and he said it was fun! No excuses next time I will be there, cowing customer loosed me down in the end anyway. I'll check later to see if you've posted pics yet. So I presume do it means yes then... Let me get them into a format that will work and I'll have a go at posting them. Never attached anything before so it should be fun. Managed to take the hovercraft out on water the weekend - WOW! A bit scary though. Just glad it's petrol and not glow, one less thing to worry about. Sym. |
RE: Freestyle Rush
the sun came out!
as our weekends go it wasn't too bad, not as big i was hoping for, but i think maybe i had my hopes set a little high. the night flying was great and the funfighter slots manic with 12 at once! turbine went down a treat and great flying by Alan Greenfield i lost a couple of planes but I've now got all the pics compressed and sorted, up on our site in the next couple of days and on the Redruth post i set up soon after. fly for fun soon :D |
RE: Freestyle Rush

RE: Freestyle Rush
Guys
I bought the Rush that had the OS91 in it off my mate so I could try it out with Tumblers set up. I thought that I would buy it off him so if I crashed it I wouldn't feel bad. I must admit, Tumblers set up does everything he said. And to do everything that is on the video is dead easy....I am still running that wrong prop on the Saito 72, but it was enough to hover and slowly pull out.....just. I have 2 servos in the back, it's CG is at 140mm, 50dec throw on elevator and the rudder is maxed. The Rush doesn't have the power to knife edge loop but does have the rudder authority to knife edge turn.......in knife edge I would put in full rudder and it would turn 180 dec and knife edge out in the other direction. It would do this in almost it's own length.....it looked cool. Elevators, Flat spins, hovering, high alpha knife edge and water falls are easy! IMO, I recommend this set up for those of you who have quick thumbs and have a lot of experience under your belt. With this setup, it WILL catch you off guard. If you want the Rush to fly more like a pattern plane balance the Rush at the recommended 110mm with a lot less throw. Cheers Buzz |
RE: Freestyle Rush
Excellent Buzz, good to see you guys are starting to realise the potential of this model.

RE: Freestyle Rush
Our friend Tumbler must be a darn good pilot !

RE: Freestyle Rush
Sym
I have always been an advocate of the Rush, Cyclone and Adrenalin, but I think the problem is that you need to give the right advise to the right person. I got a guy in our club to buy the Rush as his second model. I saw him fly his trainer and knew with the right set up it would be OK as a second model. He has now gone onto fly bigger pattern planes. If I had of given it to him with tumblers set up, the Rush wouldn't have lasted 5 seconds and it would have discouraged him..... I have seen it before. I asked him if he wanted to have a fly of the Rush on the weekend with Tumblers setup and he said 'no way'... As I said before, Tumblers setup is for an expert pilot, not a beginner. Cheers Buzz |
RE: Freestyle Rush
Buzz,
I couldn't agree more. This is why all the CG recommendations and control throws are on the conservative side. 90% of modellers are loop and rollers instead of heavyweight 3D'ers. I'm just glad that people have the knowledge to experiment and come up with their own setups, and that excellent forums like RCU are here for people to share their findings. I flew a clubmates (Jez) Rush yesterday using Tumblers setup (140mm) and it flew great, still very stable but much more aerobatic. He's still got to try mixing flaperons though. Lets see some VIDEO... John, Good to hear from ya, you'd gone quiet for a few days! |
RE: Freestyle Rush
HI all,
I took Syms advice and watched the rush vids on Cheetahrc. Went straight out and changed the CG to 140mm-what a difference!! Although a relative newbie, I could tell the difference straight away-Then I gave it to Sym to try.....Apart from testing out the repair I had done previously he got it to blender, flat spin etc, all the things it wouldnt do before. Still need a bit more elevator travel though. Problem is this is now gonna cost me about £250.00, coz to really get the best I need a better Tx, with mixes etc!! Thinking about a FF9--any suggestions would be appreciated. Jez. How about a TX with a "ground avoidance" mix? |
RE: Freestyle Rush
I know Jez, I'll ask the factory to see if we can get airbags fitted...haha.
Jez, have you considered a second hand JR 3810? Does everything a 9 does for around the £150 mark. I used to have one, nice tranny. |
RE: Freestyle Rush
Keep in mind...the instruction manual that comes with the Rush only give the conservative CG settings. At those setting the plane is almost a low wing trainer.
|
RE: Freestyle Rush
Hi again, I have got a 2nd hand Sanwa rd 6000. seems to have a few mixes plus a few programmable ones. Could I use this instead?
Seeing as I am using all futaba/hitec gear, what would I need to do-I gather that Sanwa uses a different crystal? Any help greatfully recieved. Jez |
RE: Freestyle Rush
Hi Jez,
This is crazy I could almost shout out the back door... You should be fine with the Sanwa tranny, although I've never programmed one and therefore don't know it's limitations. The only time you will have any trouble is if you have any PCM gear. Also it's always a good idea to use the same manufacturers crystal as the item being used. |
RE: Freestyle Rush
Sym
I tried for some video on the weekend, but my mate forgot to bring it.........I'll try again this weekend coming. Can it be posted on this forum? Cheers Buzz |
RE: Freestyle Rush
I think so Buzz but I've never done it before. All the video I've seen so far has been sent through MSN.
|
RE: Freestyle Rush
