RE: Freestyle Rush
Hi Guys
I haven't looked at the post in a while....sorry. Matt, hope the 140RX was as good to you :-).....stay away from the Yak! Tumbler, agreed. The prop on the saito 72 would make a difference. I believe I said that. But what about 'flying' the Rush. You will note that most IMAC and TOC flyers change props for pattern or 3D. The point is, I am sure the Saito 72 will pull the Rush out of a hover with a lower pitched prop, but what about the rest of the flight envelope? Isn't the wing 'stalled' in a harrier or elevator anyway??? RH1NO, good to hear your test flight was a success. Told ya it was ez! The 14x4 for hovering will be a lot better. Try a 12x8 for pattern. Cheers Buzz |
RE: Freestyle Rush
Buzz, you are right a 14-4 is ideal for 3D but the planes I have seen fly have carried plenty of forward airspeed to perform most pattern manuevors, however you are right for true pattern I would use something else. The 14-4 would be better for doing both in a more artistic freestlye-type routine.
yes you are right when you say the wing is stalled in a harrier, but heavy airplanes NEVER harrier well. They will always wing rock more than a lighter plane. I have seen guys try to harrier a Funtana with a Saito 100 and it is a nightmare and then put a Saito 72 and its a breeze. Mixing spoilerons helps a little though, but i like my planes to do it without. |
RE: Freestyle Rush
The best prop for the Saito 72 if you want to do both pattern and 3d is the APC 14x5N.

RE: Freestyle Rush
Tumbler
Fair enough. But you need to read the thread that was posted to Chip Hyde about wing rocking. It sheds a whole new light in regards to the theory about the 'wing rock' I know out of experience that the Rush has the same flying vises good and bad regardless of which motor was in it. One airframe, same servos with 3 different motors Saito 72, OS 91 and YS 110. Cheers Buzz |
RE: Freestyle Rush
I have not flown a rush, but seen one fly.. I have a cyclone, its big brother, flies really nice, I just put it up for sale in the market, but it is a fun plane too.

This was the electric rush I saw a few weeks ago.
If anyone can ID the motor it would be helpful. It was an outrunner and had a purple annodised case. Matt |
RE: Freestyle Rush
Hey Mat
Aren't Hackers purple? Buzz |
RE: Freestyle Rush
Buzz
I love that RX. Some times its months between flights (pattern comps) and it starts first time, zero maintainance and bags of power, very cheap to run too. I have no idea why you turfed it. Matt |
RE: Freestyle Rush
Matt
I have been asking myself the same question. I am using a DZ now...so....??? Buzz |
RE: Freestyle Rush
Buzz
Unfortunately Hacker doesn't make outrunners that big yet, if they did i'd already have one. Sorry about going of topic again but what did you think of the cheapo yak compared with the cheapo extra. Dave told me that you have flown them both. Matt |
RE: Freestyle Rush
Matt
True, i have seen the little outrunner. I had the Hacker C50 aero in my Matrix. I ran it on 30 cells to see what it was like.......too heavy, but loved it!!!.........all 2minutes of it hahaha As for the Yak....I flew one with a Moki 210 in it and it was still too tail heavy. The weight was high and made it a handful to land. Don't get me wrong, I got it down. It took the owner 8 goes to get it down. Sorry guys!....Wrong thread to talk about this one. Matt, type in GSP Yak and look at what was said. Cheers Buzz |

What a sweeeeeeet plane. Does everything from precision to 3D. Never seen a small plane like this do a harrier let alone one as stable as this.

RE: Freestyle Rush
Tumbler,
Nice pic... Seems people either love or hate the Rush, I think it must be down to setup. You've obviously got yours sorted, any mixing/what engine? We're after any good video of our aircraft (Rush, Cyclone, Formula, Adrenaline etc) for use at shows etc. Anybody willing to email or link anything? Sym. YT Int. |

546It is definetly all about the set up. It WILL NOT 3Dwith the factory suggested CG. I am over 1.5 inches or about 40mm behined it and could still go back further. It needs up flap mixed with the elevator or you better be real quick on the sticks to keep it from snapping in a harrier. With the spoilers it is, dare I say easy to harrier. My friend did his first harrier ever with my plane yesterday. I just got the thing Tues. and built it in 2 nights and flew it fri and sat. I have 2 gallons through it and love it!
I have a 50 SX with a 13-4 prop. Tried the 13-4 wide and it wasn't too good. Hovering is stable and easy to do with the CG way back. Its just like hovering a little foamy. I wish I had a Saito 72. That would be the best engine for this plane, or perhaps a YS 63. I wouldn't put anything bigger than that in it though or it will get too heavy. I have a video I made of it flying. So how bout a deal on an Adrenalin? :) |

Look at all that elevator baby!
|
RE: Freestyle Rush
That looks taken from a video. How much spoileron you have in it
|
RE: Freestyle Rush
Probably about an inch of up and down flap(down for inverted harriers).
Yes the pics are from a video I edited today of it flying. |
RE: Freestyle Rush
Tumbler,
Excellent... We try to edge on the side of caution when it comes to CG positions, most good pilots like yourself have the know how to experiment whilst keeping the model docile enough for less experienced modellers. I've PM'd you. Sym. |
RE: Freestyle Rush
Have you got the video for people to have a look at?
i have the freestyle rush myself and the plane is unreal.Ive flown mine at most of the shows in the uk. Ive got some video of mine flying but i cant get it onto the net yet can anyone help? Thanks Slyms do you use msn messanger? Dean |
RE: Freestyle Rush
Ahhh... Mr. Brain.
Wilson has told me about your flying skills, love to see a video but haven't got a clue how to upload on here. I was on my Jollies when Wils caught up with you at Woodsprings. Yep I'm on MSN though I haven't used it for a while. What sort of setup are you using on yours - mixing/c.g./engine etc. Sym. |
RE: Freestyle Rush
Oh yeh slyms lol.I do have a video from woodsprings and if you get onto msn messanger then i can send it to you.My msn adress is [email protected]
yeh wilson is a nice bloke. The setup im using is irvine 53 swinging a apc 12.25x3.75 prop. Ive got to have a play around with my setups as ive not had the plane long.Yours seems to be nice.so maybe you could give me your setup hehe. If you get onto msn we can talk Thanks Dean |
RE: Freestyle Rush
Dean I think you want to talk to Tumbler, that's his Rush pics above. I'm still playing with my Cyclone and GeeBee at the moment. Sorry dude...
I'll try to get onto MSN later after I've cleared a bit of work unless you can send your video now'ish? Sym. YT Int. |
RE: Freestyle Rush
