91 is not enough for this plane. 26cc is perfect!

RE: Peakmodel Extra 260 25%

Hi Guys,
I been thumbing through this thread reading good things. Thinking of purchasing one of the 260s to convert to electric. Does anyone have a weight of theirs without the engine & fuel tank or know what it is to deduct from the overall they have? My power set up (mtr, mount, esc & battery) should come in about 45 oz & I'm looking to stay at or below 9 1/2 lbs. Radio gear will pretty much be the standard so weights minus fuel tank & engine, ign etc would be greatly appreciated. From what I've read so far depending on engine choice I should be pretty close.

TIA
Steve

Hello, I stopped flying with this plane 10 months ago, and I made few flights last weeks with it. I find it a bit nose heavy.

As I've lost the plane manual indicating the recommanded CG, can you give me the recommanded value for CG?
And how did you experienced this value ?

Regards,

Any updates to these planes? They look good, and I'm looking for my first gasser. Can some one tell me if it is a 3d monster or just a IMAC plane? I have been flying electric 3d for 2 years now and really want a gasser that can keep me entertained doing 3d.

Thanks guys!

I´m about to finish installing all the equipment on this plane.

Thanks to all who posted before me.

Very happy with it, and my only complain is the coverign material since it delaminates. It is so well covered that is a shame that the covering material is of bad quallity.

Recomend taking time in ironing the covering in all joints.

cheers

Juan

Juan

Be carefull with the heat when you iron the seams. The clear top coat is very easy to shink and then the color underneath smears. I gave up using the iron and just tape down the loose parts with packing tape. Too bad, the covering is the worst part of a good airplane.

Had the oportunity to fly the plane on the 30 of december, and I can say I´m really happy with my first gas engine plane.

The recomended throws in the manual for normal flying are very sensitive. Fallowed the recomendations of two friends at the field and I´m thankfull I reduced the throws. Be carefull especially with the elevator. I put like 8 degress to the elevator.

Since the engine is breaking in did not try any acrobatic maneuver, but can say that this plane floats to the ground when landing it.

GEAR USED:

1 MDL-28 engine (very docile and seems very powerfull)
5 hs-965MG servos (did not like the higher voltage of A-123 had trouble centering)
1 1100mha 2sA-123 (ignition)
1 2300mha 2s A-123 (servos)
1 8ch PCM reciever (have not changed to 2.4 ghz)
1 servo operated kill switch (works perfectly)

Did some reinforcement at the landing gear area, fire wall, and wing tube. All can be seen in the pictures.

Fallowed playtraffic recomendations and added contact paper to all the covering joints and where it was delaminating.

cheers

Juan

Having fun with this plane.

The engine is almost done breaking in to twicht the needles and do more interesting manuevers.

This plane and the MDL-28 is a great combination.

RE: Peakmodel Extra 260 25%

Long horns are not required.

There are recent articles on electric aiplanes of this size that for sure will work.

Peakmodel is coming out with a new line of planes soon. Peakmodel is now making their own planes. The covering issues will be a thing of the past. Ask anyone who bought the new Sbach from Peakmodel. The Sbach is their first airframe that's manufactured by Peakmodel. All their planes will be re-designed with quality being priority. CF landing gears instead of the aluminum like my 30% Edge from them. I am currently waiting on a 25% MX2 in their pipe line. It should be out in 2 months..so the rep says.
