sato 100/U Can Do problems
It's a fun plane. Plenty of power. Hovers around half throttle. I started flying it with a wooden 15x6 zinger prop and no cowl. It flew fantastic. The CG was around 5.75. I put the cowl on, changed to an APC 15x6 prop, and an aluminum spinner and the CG moved to nearly 5.0 inches. Was not nearly as fun. I fiddled with the CG and got it back to 5.75 and it's great again. The only downside to the plane is the coupling with hard rudder input. I still haven't tried mixing it out, but it's on my list.
It's a shame those damn APC props are so heavy. I'd love to find a wood prop that would preform as well as the APC. The zinger pro is a great prop, but is still about 300 rpm's below the APC. Originally posted by WADE Coomarlin, How do you like the UCD and the Saito 100? |

Upright Saito 100
I love this plane. But let's face it boys, she's not a beauty queen, so what's the big deal about an upright head stickin' through the cowl? Fuel tank position and perfomance are so ideal (upright) that I suspect this was one of the steps in design evolution of the plane.
I got the Gold Knight version (wasted $30??) that makes it look more...err...uhmm...intentional . That's it! mt |

Turned mine upside right last night. About a 45 min job, most of which was re-routing the throttle linkage. I am flying it without a cowl. Flight 1 and 2 yesterday (inverted engine) were very good, and I am looking forward to more today.
