RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
:)gjeffers...
Great looking photos. I love your weather. If I was to show pic, it would be all white or brown with with spots and we'd have heavy coats...if I was to show pictures. Is that you in the canopy? Great looking planes by the way. And...nice flying. Crank... I thought "struts" were a form of walking after you did a low inverted pass...gjeffers style. Rob...Nice profile. Do you like flying that more than UCD? Thanks Bud |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
ORIGINAL: gjeffers always put the peanut butter on the bottom of the plane CEEGEE and youll have no landing probs:D here are some christmas day flying pics of me and my son[8D] Nice pictures Gary. I'll have to take my camera to the field more often. Is that an Elvis troll doll? [X(] Very cool.....[8D] |

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
Damn, Doug, you beg the question: which "model" flies higher?
'Nough asked. Jack (laughing) |

my rudder servo is in the fuse i'm using a pull-pull set up 38 |

Nice pics of the ST. I think most are going with the P/P rudder servo. It balances better unless you have a very heavy engine like the OS160, Saito 180, Mag 180 or gas. I'll bet yours will fly great. Thanks Bud |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
CofG,
with the p-p you only get 2/3 the rudder you would get if you put the servo in the back but i'm using a lipo and i need all the weight in the front 38 |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
i just got my seccond u can do it done im new two this site . i love the plane os 60 fx has some power i crased my last one 8 times and it always came back two life my friends call it the u can glue it. be careful of the tail ripin off mine broke on the first high speed inverted flight thank god for 2 elevator servos it was hard 2 land with the servoarm holding the whole left side of the tail forcing the planeup and down violently i sugust u put braces on the leading edge

On the ST I've seen, the rudder was pull/pull and the deflection was clear until it hit the elevator. But I've also heard it doesn't matter that much because the rudder has so much athority that it will high alpha knife edge with about 1/2 throw. The plane can snap pretty easy though so you have to be a bit careful. Your build looks really nice. It snowed today, about 6 inches. Bummer. Thanks Bud |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
Question for you experienced guys: how much air has to go through the cowling to cool the engine?
I've heard that the size of the intake/outtake is NOT that important. What IS important is the RATIO between the two: if intake = 1, outtake must = 3. Is that correct? Anyone else have ideas on how to do that so the engine doesn't over-heat. 2 or 4 stroke makes no difference I hear. Jack |

jack, the bigger the better, just make it look nice, and the ratio should be 3-1 out.
since this pic i have cut more out of the bottom, although i never had a overheating problem;) |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
:)Jack 211...
I think even more must be cut away than in gjeffers photo. I've seen pictures where the entire bottom is cut out. It don't look bad and it's the best thing you can do to get your engine to run better. Get the hot air around it out and away. Open the cowl up. You won't be sorry,...or so I've heard. Thanks BS |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
:)Man this thread is really clunkin' along. But there is no way it will top 4000 post before the weekend. No way.
I was looking and I thing there are only two threads over 4000 posts. Yak and Funtana. It would be cool to see this one get there too. Thanks Bud |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
Well lets keep it going. I flew my Showtime the first time on sunday, its going to take some getting used to how it handles. Very sensitive on the controls, and does a perfect knife edge.

i came on board on 3-2-05, post 1303 on page 53, wow , nothing but a great time, thanks guys:D

The Showtime is a very neat airplane. In many ways flys better than UCD. Flys prettier but not as much "fun". At least...so I hear. Thanks Bud |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
nice cutout... looks clean.... what size engine is that?

You have been one of the main contributors...and steady with much good information. Thank for your contribution. I'm snowbound...looking forward to spring. Can't wait to fly again. You year round guys have it good. This winter I don't even have a project. Just waiting. Thanks Bud |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
No year 'round here........ unless I get a float plane......[>:]
Hey, if I do all my flying inverted at least I'll keep the top of the wing dry.....[8D] |

If you want a float plane I understand the UCDs are real floater.... Thanks Bud |

Right now I have a Typhoon. Not a very good airplane. I thought I could use it to train a bit in the winter for 3D, but I really don't like the way it flys. I'm trying to get my hands on a Mayhem 40 but it doesn't look like they'll ever be available. So really nothing right now. Well, almost nothing. Whose gonna get 4000? Than ks Bud |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
:)Been thinking a bit about what plane I'd really like to get. Oddly enough one I've been seriously looking at is a Great Planes P-6E Curtis Hawk biplane. I think that thing looks really cool but it doesn't really seem like my kind of flying and I've heard bipes are difficult (time consuming) to assemble at the field. Sometimes my flight sessions are very limited on time (lunchhour). So I probably won't get one. Another I've looked at is a Great Planes Yak, but I don't like Yaks and it might be a little large. I thought about a Ultra RC Giles but I second guessed myself and didn't buy it. I'm pretty interested in an Aeroworks 60/90 size Edge. I might purchase one of those. And I've been thinking about a Giant sized UCD. I've researched the thread on that thing and it seems to be a sleeper. They talked about how agile it is for a large plane and how aerobatic it is. Flys much better KE than the smaller UCDs and is great with waterfall and flats. It's really got my attention. I don't have an engine for it but I guess my choice would be a OS160. And last but not least (some will be very surprised by this) a Funtana. I'd seriously but a OS160 in it. It's the perfect engine. The extra weight would make the plane balance much better and the power would haul the heavy beast around. I guess I just accept the fact it would be 10 lbs and power it accordingly.
But all of the above is just speculation and stuff I've heard. Thanks Bud |
