RE: what to get?
I talked to a guy who has had more than one out at my flying field! he said theyre great planes and that hes owned more than one until his eyes got to bd to see the smaller planes so he sold em about a year ago but he said he loved his! and that the .52 will be plenty!

RE: what to get?
My reactor setup will be:
I already have all except for the aileron servos Saito 91 Hitec 5245mg on Ailerons Hitec 5625mg on rudder or 625 mg Hitec 5475 on elevators Hitec 82 mg on throttle Futabs MSA-10 servo synchronizer Mine is coming in on Wed...but there's a chance I might not get it together until the spring as my components are in my Showtime 50, and still want to fly the hell out of that - its a great flyer. |

I promised a flight report and here it is.
~10mph wind along the runway and ~34*F The engine started up amazingly good for the temp. and after a little tweaking it was ready to go! The Saito .82 4s and 15X4W APC had gobs of power and in about 10ft. it was off the ground and heading straight up with lots of power. when I got to altitude I trimmed it out (which only took 2or3 clicks of aileron). KE is great, absolutely no roll coupling and it only took a hare of up elevator to keep it straight. And it had plenty of rudder for climbing KE. For me, the recommended low rate elevator was not quite enough so I increased it slightly and it was perfect. I wasn't able to hover it because of the gusty wind. With a head wind it landed at walking speed. I tried a flat spin but couldn't get it to flatten out but that is prob. because I'm not very good at flat spins anyway. It does rolls and snap rolls great, I don't know how it does loops, I tried some but the wind messed with it alot when I did loops. It glides as good as my ltra stick. I gave it one washer width of down thrust and it flew great inverted. To sum up the way it flies, WOW!!! BTW, I have the CG at 4 3/4" and the fuel tank at the cg. I am using a hanger-9 4.8V 1400mah nicd reciever pack, and byron 20/20 fuel. here are some pics the in flight pic was the climb out after my second take off. |
RE: what to get?
Looks great! I haven't got mine done yet :(
Looks like a great day out at the field... I probably would have been there but brother Gregg's wife is in the hospital right now. Keep up the good work! |

RE: what to get?
Bummer! That's the only thing about these ARF's: they're built lite to fly great, but it doesn't take much to tear them up! My new Extreme Flight Chinn Yak took a sorta hard deadstick landing on its nose, and it broke all of the ply and fuse tubes behind the wing. I have been piecing it back together, and hopefully will have it back in the air soon. good luck with yours!

Why not try to fix it yourself if on a budget. Go to your LHS, match up the wood and put the puzzle back together. Its not as hard as it may seem. If youve never done it before, just let it sit a few days and go back and take a look at it. You might be surprised how simple it can be, just time and patience. [/quote] Thats true theres a guy out at our flying field thatll crash a planes and will piece a plane back together and glue every piece back together and within a week he'll have the same plane back in the air! also once crashed my easy sport off of my barn and crunched in the entire left front part of the fuse! (all the radio compartment on the left side) I just cut it off smooth and cut a piece of balsa to match and within 20 minutes had it glued and recovered! might take a lil more work with your reactor but itll be worth saving $90 bucks if you ask me! |
