Yes the bunch at Castle sure are doing things right: even the variable brake software was "shipped" as an update on the web. It is the 21st century, after all.
I should have said that my outrunner setup (AXI 5330/18) and others, like the Pletty 30-10 seem to brake best with the percentage set at 25%.
So the gear-reductions need less? Given the mechanical advantage, i guess that makes sense. If you get a chance, try to see what percentage is on the hairy edge of causing prop stoppage in a vertical dive. It's about 40% with the outrunners. Thanks for the info on the inddor stuff. I haven't set the brake on that one, yet, as I have pulled the receiver out of it, in order to do electric flight tests in my friend's control-line Stunt ship. We are playing with the helicopter governor function in the Castle 45, and it's much less tedious using an RC radio to change RPM settings.
