RE: alierons to flaperons ?
You really don't need airbrakes, you should learn to control your airspeed with your elevator. It's possible to land that plane at nearly walking speed in a dead calm, and have a rollout of less than 50feet on grass, maybe less (though coming in a hair faster and using, say 100-150ft of runway is easier and less likely to be a belly-flop). If you're coming in hot all the time, then you are probably diving to the deck and not throttleing down soon enough.
That said, usually when you do the flaperon conversion you put the ailerons out in the wing pannels. It's not hard, you just cut a hole in the covering, build in some servo mounts, re-cover, and do the pushrods and control horns. It's a good way to learn some basic building skills, though building a kit is probably better, since you don't have to engineer anything. I did see someone do the flaperon thing using two microservos in the same servo hole opening. You'll have to measure your fuse to see if all fits with 2 standard servos, but since the elevator and rudder servos are usually side-by-side, I'll be surprised if it doesn't.
If you really can't keep the nose up in the flair, then either increase the elevator throw a bit or move the CG back a little. Most trainers fly a heck of a lot better with the CG moved a little back from where the instructions say.
