ok well the shocktowers on the stock rustler are too short, they make the truck sit high and have great 'bash-ability' but they allow too much downtravel when cornering, forcing the truck to become unsettled and lift tyres, and inevitably spin. my new towers were dremelled out of 3mm aluminum i bought from a local place called metal-land, the rear shock tower is about 10mm wider on each side and about a total 10mm taller. the front has an ok height, but i made mine 5mm taller and moved the shocks to 30mm apart, this allows MUCH less downtravel and a way more stable ride. they were designed by using the fibregalss traxxas towers as a template and then modifying from there on paper, then copying the design onto the aluminium sheet then dremeling it and drilling it . They will end up like the top of a rc10gt ft tower and a mounting setup that suits the rusty. yes this was designed off of my FT GT but only after i bought it, the designs were very similar before i bought the gt, the only change was to make the rear shock tower a little taller, and the shock mounting positions will need to be at the outermost hole on the rear arms for it to work and limit downtracel effectively. this setup allows (mainly the front as its practically flying 10 feet up stock lol) the truck to have a lot less downtravel and lower it woithout the need for extra short springs and fuel tube in the shocks. it also allows, unlike the short springs etc; full suspension travel but it will still be nice and low and 'tight' feeling. I have still not outdriven the rusty by more than a second on my local track with this setup. but the rusty had a LOT of mods.
