Default Brillelli 25GT on CMP Spitfire

Scott has done it again. My old Spitfire has had several big 2-strokes, etc stuffed into it over the last two years. The cowling shows it too. So mounting a 25cc Toro conversion was the last thing I thought I'd ever do to this bird. But the 25ccGT with EI weighs so little that I only gained a few extra ounces. Before I weighed in at 11LBs dry. And that was with a solid pound of lead in the nose for balance. Now it weighs in at an even 12LBs and that's with two 1650mah batteries . I did replace the 16oz fuel tank with a 12oz since going gas. I never fly over 15 minutes anyway. Not too sure of the retracts yet. But like most I'm sure they will keep me busy in between flights. The old ones were bent up and under sized. These aren't much better really. 3/16 wire Hanger9 P-51 150sized stock replacements. The H9 P-51 is reported to weigh about 15LBs so they should hold up. I still need to try out some differant wheels and get my tow-in set correctly but I got some good advice in the WBs section on shimming the gear so they rake forward more.
Still,,, unless you fly warbirds every other day or more and cannot screw the pooch on the landings they tend to nose over on us guys that fly Edge 540s and other fixed gear non warbird type planes. I got fairly good with mine last summer but I know it's a constant concern for those landing on grass. I fly from a paved field but it still happens when you least expect it.
I mentioned this concern to Scott over the phone one evening and told him it worried me having a big cylinder , pipe and EI plug wire cap hanging down behind my brand new Dave Brown spinner. Scott asked for a few closeup pics of my plane in a nosed over position and said he'd look into it. That was last Thursday or Friday.
TODAY I check the mail and there is a box from Scott. It weighs like nothing. Opened it up and there is a gorgeous polished alum shark fin built just for my warbird's GT25. Not only does it protect my new engine and pipe it also protects my spinner from road rash in case of nose-over. I just removed the chromed head cover and it bolted right into place. My CH ignition ground wire fits right on one of the bolts for a solid ground.

I just wanted to thank Scott and let everyone know about his great customer service. He will go the extra mile for you and make each engine like it was built for himself. In fact I think he hates to see his little conversion children go after he test runs them. LOL Just kidding Scott,,, but I know from talking to ya how much you fuss over each one.
Haven't gotten the chance to fly it yet but if I can get the landing gear and wheels all lined up maybe this weekend's weather will allow it.
