Default RE: How many people are into R/C drags?

Drag racing is my favorite 1:1 sport, but I don't do it in R/C just because it's not around any place I've lived. I did do 1/8 nitro on road and I am currently doing 1/10 nitro off road. In fact the guys I raced with/against are the same guys I would go to the drag races with at Englishtown, NJ for the Summernats. But (I'm not judging or criticizing here) I don't expect R/C drags to have the same thrills, especially electrics (just gear whine) and I don't suppose you can do any smokey burnouts which is part of the show. But like all R/C, very high power to weight, they must turn even quicker quarter miles (in scale) than full scale top fuelers.

The Serpent Excel I raced in the 80's could accelerate like an NHRA Pro Stocker, a 2 Hp engine in a 6 lb, 13 oz R/C car. But it was a road racing car. An R/C drag car should be even quicker than that.
