Default How many people are into R/C drags?

I'm thinking about trying this out. I watched some videos on IEDA's site, and man those things fly!

Here's a [link=http://www.ieda-dragracing.com/video/2004recap.wmv]link[/link] if you'd like to watch too.

That one drag looks too short for the vehicles to slow down before smacking into the wall.

I Drag race Real Cars and tour 10 states. I also Drag race RC cars. I Build Nostalgia Altereds,Dragsters,Funnycars For a living and also Build Nitro RC Drag cars And Sell them too. I'v been DragRacing for 20+ years and Building for 20 years . As for having Reverce in the car You need to burnout then back up to stage the car on the starting line. The Real car I race is a 1500+HP Blown Injected alky burnning Altered that runs high 6s at 200 mph. If you think you dont have to steer a Drag car, You never Drag raced. My car goes 0 to 100 mph in 3 sec. I also have a Morris Minor 1000 With the same 1500+hp motor in that car.And with that kind of HP in a car with a 90" wheel base IS a hand full . For You Guys that Think it's EZ Stick with road racing or Nascar..Drag racing is for People that can think fast,,Unlike a race that takes 1 or 2 hours to complete you have a long time to figure out what's going on.. In Drag Racing If ya blink Ya missed it. Top Fuel runs 4:50 at 335+ mph.. For you Slowwer Thinking people Thats 0 to 100 mph in .9 tenths of a sec.And is 8500 HP in a 1800 lb car. Crap like F1 dont even come close. The Drag Racing RC Cars I build and sell, Will run 90+ mph at 2 sec in 165 feet. So the next time you want to BASH Drag racing Ya better think twice,, Better yet Go to a magor Drag racing Event And See for your self.

maybe u don;t need reverse in an RC drag, just pick it up and put it back at the start... lol

or just do a burnout on the spot... stick your foot infront of it and hit the gas..... lol

I had a Jato with an OS 18TM in it. That thing would go from 0-60 in 3 seconds. I had the dirt hawg rear tires on it and i would go WOT off the line with no wheel spin. Then i would drag race real 1:1 cars and destroy them.

Drag racing is my favorite 1:1 sport, but I don't do it in R/C just because it's not around any place I've lived. I did do 1/8 nitro on road and I am currently doing 1/10 nitro off road. In fact the guys I raced with/against are the same guys I would go to the drag races with at Englishtown, NJ for the Summernats. But (I'm not judging or criticizing here) I don't expect R/C drags to have the same thrills, especially electrics (just gear whine) and I don't suppose you can do any smokey burnouts which is part of the show. But like all R/C, very high power to weight, they must turn even quicker quarter miles (in scale) than full scale top fuelers.

The Serpent Excel I raced in the 80's could accelerate like an NHRA Pro Stocker, a 2 Hp engine in a 6 lb, 13 oz R/C car. But it was a road racing car. An R/C drag car should be even quicker than that.

is this guy braggin about his car doing 0-100 in 3 seconds and running a 6 second quarter mile? that aint nothing, my classic beamer runs 60mph in about 7.5 seconds and the quarter in about 16....WHAT! say something! lol

i personally have always kinda wanted to buy a drag racing rc car, but i have no use for it, i would hate it, ive always been a fan of jumping and turning, raced motocross in highschool....never really liked going in straight lines. I think i'd like to build a street legal drag car if i had the money, that way i had 1/4 numbers, but could still street it. That would be a lot of fun.

My dad used to race a 10 second 1968 camaro at english town, but he got out of it a few years ago. I still go to the Nhra events they have there and all. Anyway drag racing is awesome. I mean it's more interesting than watching cars ride around in circles for 3 hours.

I wasnt bragging I am stating a FACT... I'm Not some 15 year old or 20 year old talking crap. I'm 45 and have been Building Drag racing cars for well over 20 years. I'v been Drag racing Real cars that long too.. I"LL Race your BMW any time.. But I will be across the finish line, and already on the return road Packing up the chutes before you cross the finish line... I can back up the things I say with Real performance.. I stated my first post in this thread because of the smart ass in England with his coments about Drag Racing.

Im a fan of both F1 and Drag racing....the F1 racers have to have alot ao concentration to race for 2 hours staright pulling 3.5 g's..u gotta give it to them Nitrorage..they got endurance...and the F1's arnt slow either. As for drag racing..i love it too..i hear Top fuel rail cars pull something like 6 g's in acceleration. Both of them are a rush and i would kill to do either professionally. Btw my uncle has a 800 hp old laurel with something like 600 hp in NOS that he drag races. Best time was 8.5 secs but if the re-open the drag strip by me hes going to stick in a supercharger or a twin turbo, hoping to run in the six's...

DEATH TO PPL WHO DONT LIKE RACING
