RE: Precision Aerobatics Bad Boy V2?
Hey There Bill,
I have never said anything bad about Carolina 3D or the new Company Copperhead Aviation, if fact, I have had nothing but good things to say about the service that I received from your company. You have ALWAYS been a stand-up guy and done everything that anyone can expect and way more to help a customer.
I have stated in the Bad Boy threads that I think this plane is a good plane that flies well and 3D's well. I just do not care for the tail design in the fact that BOTH planes broke the tails in the exact same way. One using the control horns that are supplied and following the assembly instructions to the letter. The second aircraft, I did use bolt through control horns in an effort to stop the elevator and rudder breakage. That did not work either. I am using much less that 45 degrees of surface movement on the second plane... Also on purpose to keep from breaking the rudder and elevator. But even that did not work.
Now as to me being hard on my planes... Well maybe that is true. I have only had 3 years on my ultra stick 40, 4 years on my BalsaNova 1.20, Three years on my Morris Knife, 3 years on my Swanson design Burrito. That is not to say that I have not crashed a few, but I do not say anything against the planes that I crashed because of dumb thumbs. If I fly badly and make some dumb stick choices, that is not the planes fault, and I would not blame a crash on a plane anyway since when a plane goes in... 90% of the time its the pilot and the other 10% of the time its the pilot denying the truth anyway right? hahah
I think the badboy flies well once the tails are fixed. I have always said that the plane 3Ds very well and is great for hovering and spins in any direction, and knife edges are extreme at any angle and any direction. Notice that I did not even mention the wing tips? Those breaking is of no consequence anyway... Like you said, just rip them off and move on... Thats what I did. I am reporting my experiences. I am not exaggerating, or relating anything other than what has happened to me.
As for the engines, The big 4 strokes power the plane just fine and the plane still floats in easily. I suggested the lighter 2 strokes because the BadBoy balances better in my humble opinion with the lighter engines. I allows more choices of components, servos, battery capacity and battery placement. I greatly prefer balancing without cutting the engine mount or adding weight to the tail. when I used the 4 strokes, I needed to either mount the battery in the tail, ro add lead to the tail.
I have no ax to grind. I am not trying to hurt your business, or your sales of the badboy. I am only relating my experience with this plane.
Respectfully submitted
