Default RE: how good is the freedom flyer?

ORIGINAL: davori

I've read some good reviews about the megatech freedom flyer, but i'm not sure how good it is in reality. Has anyone flown one? How good is it? I have no RC planes experience so would the freedom flyer be a good plane for me?
I'll be watching this thread to see if anyone who actually owned and flew one responds.

Last year, when the Great Planes Trainer 40 I was using with students went in (connection failure, my fault) I was looking all over the net to find another to build. The Freedom Flyer looks like a replica or ripoff. I almost ordered one, but didn't for 2 reasons:

1) the price was $100, and the Tower Trainer ARF was $65 (more recently on sale at $60)
2) the Megatech reputation.

If it's actually a copy of the GP Trainer 40, and someone with building skills assembled it and went over the joints & everything, I'd bet it would fly great.

Best wishes,
Dave Olson
