Edge day 2
Hi guys,
well after last weekends disappointment I got the Edge patched up yesterday and also got around to installing the cowl so she was looking very sweet. (see pic, repairs pic to come).
Had a bit of trouble with tuning the motor, the angle key I was using flew straight out of my hand the prop wash was so strong.... go 1.20! :-) So we nose tested it and it seemed ok but must have been too lean as the engine stalled after about 5 mins as I was going in to a stall turn (no pun intended). So anyway had to come in for a deadstick, it seemed to glide quite well (high wind making it come down like a kite) but then she just dropped at the last minute and bingo, broke the spats and popped half of the undercarriage mounting block (again, same as last time). So anyway after a bit of toing and froing I managed to do a temporary field repair and went up for a second run. This time she flew sweet as a nut (a mate had a more appropriate tuning rod for the high speed needle) until, the left wheel fell off... damn!
So anyway, faced with the challenge of landing on one wheel, I brought it in in a hover (lucky for high wind) and it polished off the undercarriage, no other damage to the plane... lucky for the first incident otherwise it would have been a lot worse.
Anyway, I've got some low quality footage of starting up and takeoff (fliying too but from too far away) so I'll try and get my site up and running so the guys who are stuck in the snow with their kits can at least see what they have to look forward too.
cheers!
