Default RE: the 73 inch question,,

ORIGINAL: the Wasp

well I'm using a different motor, it's a Super Tartan 22cc glow motor, it has a big round mount on the back of it I wont be using,,, if I knew where the prop shaft was aligned on the motor wall I could just use the motor mount as a template and drill the motor mounting holes..

see Super Tartan motors here,,,

I see now. That would make it a little more difficult. Are you going to use standoffs? If I remember right, my engine mount was mounted clear to the right side (looking from the front) of the firewall, so I'm guessing that the shaft will probably not line up with the hole in the firewall. If you have a drill press, mark the mounting holes on a block of wood that is about the right thickness, and just slightly bigger then the hole mounting pattern. Drill the mounting holes with the press and then put some short bolts or screws through the engine mount into the wood block to hold the engine in place. Center the engine shaft on the cowl as per the instructions, then remove the cowl and mark the location of the block. Remove the engine from the block and using the holes in the block as a template, drill the holes in the firewall. Mount your standoffs and you should be good to go. If this doesn't help then hopefully it will give you some ideas.

Karl-

It is coming together. Just need to run the antenna and finish up the pull-pull on the rudder. If the weather is nice one of these weekends, I'll be taking it out to the field for it's maiden.
