RE: Hangar 9 Twist 3D
Del, only a .48, only a .52!--in a 40 size plane? Ha, ha. I use the OS .61 with a Master Airscrew 13x5 or 13x4. But I believe I began with a Super Tiger .45 (with, after some experience, an APC 12.25x3.75) in my first Twist, then went to an OS. 50, then the .61--and I'm REALLY pleased with it. I also have a Saito 82a on one Twist. I often fly both birds in one fliying session. Love them both.
I guess I'm really a Texan at heart, hm? Bigger is not always better, but once you command the Twist, the power is helpful--especially when you get into trouble, my common circumstance, pushing the Twist, pushing me. Maidening Twist #7 tomorrow. I put a 6 volt bat in this one and can't BELIEVE the power and quickness of the Futaba S3004 servos. Much faster than the 4.8 bats. As much experience as I've had with the Twist, I'm calming the low rates down until I get used to the new power in the servos.
Anyone else try 6 v. RX bats in their birds?
For those interested, I also put in a two clunk system, pressure and fuel lines, plus a filler line and pressure check-valve to see if I can solve the less-than-half-throttle inverted flight to outside loop flame-out problem with the .61. I'll let you know how it goes.
