My view between the two choices you have listed, the 110 will get you more ARF choices where the performance is good, and the cost is lower, but once you move into the bigger size, the lower cost ARF choices is limited, and you are probably have to be more committed in investing both time and capital, so if your goal is to fly around and practice to improve the skills, 110 size should get you more value overall.

I am currently using Excelleron to practice the Advanced sequences, and feel it is very capable to help me improving my flying. I would like to move into a 2 meter plane sometime this year, but that certainly is not because I need to.
